Carhartt WIP is part of the Work In Progress Holding AG. Our family-owned business group started as a licensee and European distributor of the US workwear manufacturer Carhartt in the early 1990s. Since then, it develops its own collections based on workwear originals.

Carhartt Work In Progress aims to continuously progress and evolve, without ever losing sight of its origins. Over the course of the past two decades, our business has developed organically, along with its customers, the culture that surrounds the brand, and its employees who have helped shape what Carhartt WIP is today.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support the design team with daily tasks and collection development
  • Research seasonal design concepts and details
  • Identify relevant design directions, fabrications and color by researching appropriate markets
  • Knowledge and research ability into relevant vintage as well as modern design, based on brand related direction and seasonal inspiration
  • Present ideas and assist design team with technical drawings and sketch development
  • Apply technical information and annotate technical drawings
  • Compile and update working overviews across all product categories
  • Attend fittings and communicate directly with product and technical teams
  • Organize and develop trims for collection
  • Fabric research
  • Merchandising overview and awareness
  • Colour selection and application across products

Your Profile:

  • Degree in fashion design or comparable education
  • Minimum 3 years experience within textile/apparel design industry
  • Technical and conceptual design knowledge
  • Good research skills and ability to translate design concepts, with good knowledge of design history, references, current trends, and competitors
  • Knowledge of product, fabrics, and sewing constructions
  • Attention to detail and able to develop product throughout sampling process
  • Excellent knowledge in design programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Very good organisation skills, efficient and able to meet deadlines
  • Very interested in Carhartt WIP and similar brands
  • Willing to travel
  • Fluent in English, Germany/French advantageous
