POSITION SUMMARY:
  • Drives the product development and commercialization process, working in collaboration with the internal / external cross functional partners (Design, Merchandising, Raw Materials, Technical Design, Hubs, Vendors & factories) to deliver product that meets business requirements for quality, aesthetic and price.
  • Category management aligned with the supply chain & business strategies; driving organizational goals & metrics.
  • Engagement with hub teams/vendors regarding all issues related to proper sample execution and costing, throughout the development process.
  • Must be able to approach work strategically and have the ability to multitask, managing day-to-day responsibilities in conjunction with ad-hoc projects requiring quick turn-time.
  • Proactive management of potential issues; driving to resolution with cross functional teams.
  • Seek personal/professional development. Identify opportunities for improvement as well as risks to the business and makes recommendations to the team and upper management.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

Strategic
  • Drive cross-functional calendar adherence & offer suggestions to mitigate missed deliverables
  • Support projects for management meetings and other assigned projects.
  • Escalate open issues to upper management with point of view to resolve

Product Development/ Sourcing/Costing
  • Initiate pre-season development, sending inquiries regarding newness/innovation and following up on samples, wash trials, etc.
  • Initiate flash costing exercises as needed to gauge cost feasibility prior to season's launch.
  • Strategic product allocation in alignment with sourcing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain tracking reports for seasonal developments.
  • Create cost files capturing all seasonal developments, including comparisons to previous season's product as well as cost engineering options to achieve target margin.
  • Utilize product knowledge to suggest options to reduce prices.
  • Firm understanding of garment costing with the ability to identify price distortions and engage vendors to drive solutions.
  • Lead cost meetings with merchandising & design teams, fostering collective product/cost-related discussions.
  • Ensure cost data accuracy through system maintenance (XPC).
  • Daily interaction/e-mail communication with internal cross functional teams as well as overseas hubs/vendors.
  • Assess salesman sample delivery status and identify tools for mitigation plans where samples will miss market.
  • Provide Sourcing-related inputs to brand meetings/sample reviews/adoption & line finalization meetings.
  • Partner with cross functional teams on any product, quality or delivery issues.
  • Collaborate with design and raw materials teams in research and development of new product, sustainability and sourcing opportunities.

REQUIRED SKILLS & CAPABILITY:
  • Must be analytical; understand supply goals & metrics.
  • Strong judgment & decision making skills (with an ability to drive root cause analysis).
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills (to include good listening & negotiation skills).
  • Must be detail oriented, extremely resourceful, have excellent follow up skills; learning and using all appropriate contacts to gather information & drive solutions.
  • Must be flexible and have the ability to function independently (at times) in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate and work as a team; transcending different cultures, geographies & time zones.
  • Computer skills - Microsoft office; proficient in Excel (ability to create, update, and format data for tracking and reporting by using pivot tables and formulas). Knowledge of PLM /WEB PDM/Adobe a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in the Product Development, Sourcing, Global Production Planning, Manufacturing and Supply Chain related space.

Education: Bachelor's Degree is required.
