About the role

Vogue seeks an experienced detail oriented and well-organized Copy Editor with a background in fashion publications to join the Vogue Arabia team.

This is an outstanding opportunity to be a key part of one of the world’s most storied publishing brands and to redefine the glossy media landscape across the Middle East. 

The Copy Editor will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of writing that appears across all Vogue Arabia channels and projects. They will oversee English language copy for digital and print content that consistently communicates the voice of Vogue Arabia across all channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Editing copy for all Vogue Arabia digital and print content including posts, articles, newsletters, emails, promotional materials, and marketing communications. The editing process includes more mechanical editing such as correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation as well as verifying copy for accuracy and precision especially for names, places, organisations, dates, facts, and statistics so that written works are free from error.
  • It also includes more substantive editing that ensures the writer’s work is easily readable, well organised, and delivers the intended message.
  • Stewarding and channelling the Vogue voice with every edit and all copy creation to ensure brand integrity and a seamless fit with Vogue Arabia’s editorial style.
  • Managing workflows by setting forward-looking production schedules to compliment editorial deadlines and internal projects. Being able to balance a strict adherence to those schedules with the need to shift the prioritisation queue of editing copy based on the relevance, impact, newsworthiness, and time sensitive nature of the content is a key marker of success.
  • Establishing a coherent style guide that outlines clear writing standards for the publication and educate contributing writers on the style guide.
  • Working collaboratively with the editorial team and writers to create effective headlines and captions, iterate on content layouts, review photos, and conduct research that can assist the development of content.

Candidate Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, in the luxury publishing industry
  • Strong English language and written skills
  • Proven track record and a deep bench of experience managing copy across a wide array of channels (print, digital, social media etc.)
  • Must be well versed in the nuances and cultural sensitivities unique to our target market
  • Detail oriented, organized, positive approach to managing workload and deadlines
  • Deep understanding of the Vogue brand and desire to carry its mantle
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, under tight deadlines, and in a fast-paced environment.
