Job description for Flagship Store Director – Soho, New York

Founded in 1961 by André Courrèges, the Courrèges house revolutionized the world of fashion and design. Movement, purity, colour, light... such are the hallmarks and distinctive style that Courrèges began asserting as early as 1965 with the emphasis on structured lines and the focus on white, before branching into colour variations and new materials, such as vinyl. Eminently optimistic and full of energy, Courrèges has blazed a trail in every field where it has ever dared to venture, such as perfumes in 1971 and menswear in 1973.

The revival of this legendary brand is now taking on a new dimension with the decision to change the positioning strategy for its fashion, accessories and perfume activities. It is still focused on its mission of continually offering a growing range of innovative and modern designs in keeping with the brand's original ideals.

Building on the extraordinary heritage associated with the brand, the Courrèges project takes a new turn in 2020 with the nomination of Adrien Da Maia, CEO and Nicolas Di Felice, Artistic Director, to write a new successful chapter of this legendary house.

Under the creative leadership of Nicolas Di Felice, the Courrèges house is now experiencing strong growth in its fashion and perfume activities.

The Courrèges house will open its first Flagship store in the US in September 2022, on an iconic Soho corner in NYC, and is hiring a Store Director to lay the foundations of the Brand retail development in the US while managing a successful sales team of fashion experts — full range of products in womenswear, menswear, accessories and fragrances. With a direct reporting to the global CEO, this prominent role in the organization requires constant interaction with HQ in Paris (including bi-annual travel to HQ during buys) and offers a clear career growth towards a Retail Director position as the brand quickly expands to other markets in the US.

The Store Director is expected to participate in all aspects of the store opening and contribute to its success. The next pages highlight the main responsibilities covered in the role.


    Hire, lead and supervise a sales team of fashion experts Create a seamless planning structure to maximize sales potential Promote Courrèges, embodying brand values and cutting-edge approach to luxury Setup product and sales training and a day-to-day basis Federate and inspire teams, ensuring their motivation and well being Establish individual growth objectives and create conditions to exceed them Continuously reach and attract the best applicants to join the team in case Delegate task to team and grow a cohesive staff that can anticipate difficulties Process and monitor customer disputes Setup a retouching planning and list of services for the customers Ensure a perfect management of inventory levels and a smooth stock Create a safe workplace and ensure security at the door by hiring an internal security agent as an integral part of the staff

Sales and Communication:

    Strive to deliver the best level of service and create meaningul connections with high-end customers to grow our portfolio and build the NY Courrèges community Achieve sales targets set and increase revenue by making our products attractive Retain customer loyalty by giving appropriate and personalised advice Follow the instructions of HQ Paris in terms of policies, including finances and admin tasks Participate in the selection and purchase of collections as well as restocking needs. Drive business through key product pillars, KPIs culture and provide customer feedback Organize and participate in events and communication initiatives Be a force to build and animate a growing community in NY

Merchandising :

    Execute HQ’s merchandizing guidelines and be proactive to suggest adjustments Hire and manage the right talent for Visual Merchandizing within the team : full responsibility of Visual Merchandizing is expected, aligned with HQ guidelines Ensure that product representation in the store is on par with the highest quality of merchandizing and cleanliness Come up with ideas to regularly improve our product merchandizing by adapting guidelines, suggest furniture improvements for new categories Ensure that the shop floor is organized, and our products are arranged according to the instructions of the head office.
Onboarding and training in Paris for full immersion in the brand. 2 trips a year to Paris HQ during buying season

With a minimum of 7-8 years of previous experience working in the retail and fashion industry, you can demonstrate good sense for business and have an excellent sense for customer service.  Prior experience in a store management role is required.

As an ambassador of our Brand, you have excellent communication skills and envision put client relationship at the core of the sales technique.

Up to date with current market and global trends in fashion. Ability to work well in a multicultural environment Interest in culture, design, art. You are able to supervise and motivate a team and are willing to take on challenges.

We are looking for someone who wants to build a success from the ground up and rapidly support the retail expansion of the brand. Evolutive role towards a more corporate role (Retail Director or Regional General Manager)

Base salary competitive with current market in Luxury / Fashion for Soho – To be discussed

Significant variable salary based on store performance and qualitative objectives – To be discussed
