The mission of the Payments PMO is to ensure that Zalando Payments will achieve its goals in the most effective and efficient manner. The portfolio managers report to Head of PMO and own the portfolio of work and drive the portfolio processes, which guide leadership through their strategic decisions to ensure that the resources available are spent on the work that is of the most value. The Project Managers in the team lead high impact and high complexity tech projects end to end. By implementing solid and consistent project management practices they ensure these goals are reached with high collaboration, speed and quality.

  • This is a senior, business-centric project management role in which you will be end-to-end responsible for large scale projects that have high impact to our customers and the business.
  • You would contribute to defining which problems the business wants to solve, helping support the design of solutions and provide perspective on business impact.
  • You will collaborate closely with high-level project sponsors (Directors and above) to define and validate opportunities, goals, business requirements, priorities, acceptance criteria and performance standards for these complex projects.
  • You would help structure these projects by assessing, analysing, and driving risks, dependencies, priorities and resource constraints.
  • As these projects have large stakeholder landscapes, you would work with all functional levels within the organization, such as Product, Design, Engineering and other to ensure we approach these projects holistically.
  • Your impact scales beyond only the projects you drive. You will be a go-to resource & consultant on other projects, act as an expert within the broader organization and will be a leading figure in the project management community of practice.
  • You have at least 8 years of project management experience. You have managed the delivery of complex software projects across business, technology, and digital products, both with agile teams and in traditional project management environments.
  • You a have a proven track record of working with senior engineering and product steakholders.
    You were previously exposed to software development processes thus can drive the issues discovering and challenge counterparts from tech.
  • You are a highly-motivated, self-starting team player and an expert in managing priorities. You are fully accountable for your tasks, work in an independent and structured manner and are able to adapt your approach for each project.
  • You are highly self-aware and pay attention to the emotional and mental states of others. You regularly reflect on your own work and can share and accept constructive feedback.
  • You quickly establish and care for stakeholder relationships. You can steer stakeholders and sponsors with data-driven recommendations, often thinking two steps ahead, and are able to persuade and challenge assumptions based on due diligence. You are solutions-driven, know how to manage disagreements constructively, and will leave your ego at the door.
  • You are a natural communicator, an active listener, and exhibit strong situational leadership. Using your refined soft skills, you can autonomously find and engage the right people to support the delivery of projects and with respect to risk management and resource constraints.
  • You help us get better every day as you are a change manager by heart. You constructively challenge the status quo, come up with clear improvement strategies and understand how to include your environment in the way forward.
  • Together with your team members you seek to continuously improve project management practices. You are an innovator by heart and are able to assimilate and advocate for better ways of working. You are able to put new tools and concepts into practice in a diverse, growing organization.
