OVERVIEW:

Are you our next Legal Counsel? You will be will be a generalist in the Legal team that will help drive the continuous improvement of our commercial operations. This critical position will collaborate across all departments by serving as a strategic business partner to provide timely, pragmatic and commercially focused advice on a range of commercial contracts privacy, compliance, brand protection and intellectual property matters. Focussing on the protection of Gymshark's interests and assets, you will operate through legal design and value-add solution management. Needs to be curious and excited to learn new areas of law, eager to "roll up their sleeves", pragmatic in approach and ready to help contribute to a modern legal department in support of Gymshark's transformation.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:


  • Review, draft and negotiate a range of contracts, including NDAs; Athlete, Influencer and App agreements; Consultancy agreements; Software as a service (SaaS) agreements; Data Processing Agreements; B2B & B2C T&Cs; Supply agreements. Upholding our "playbook" positions and ensuring sound commercial contracting practices and record keeping is implemented throughout the business.
  • Review and advise on key visuals, creative assets, campaigns, events, promotions, competitions and other marketing and advertising materials and content.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with all "Go to Market" and "Foundation" functions including Brand, Product, Commercial, Tech, People, Property and Finance, as well as the wider Group, NAM and International Legal teams.
  • Advise business leaders on consumer protection, advertising law and other legal compliance matters that may impact marketing, advertising and consumer experiences whether IRL, in-store, online or via social media.
  • Creatively engage with and educate internal stakeholders on contractual and compliance matters through periodic, in-person training, fact sheets and toolkits on various topics.
  • Contribute and participate in on-boarding training for new staff members as and when required; acting as an ambassador for the Legal team.
  • Where required, liaise and collaborate with external parties (e.g. external advisors, consumers and regulators) and, in the context of obtaining external advice, manage associated costs accordingly.
  • Conduct strategic analysis of legal, compliance and brand risks, including preparation of internal reports and logs.
  • Identify and recommend solutions (including corrective action plans) to eliminate or mitigate risk and add value for discussion with the Group Legal Director and/or Senior Legal Counsel(s), and once aligned drive such implementation.
  • Proactively participate in the deployment of practical elements of the Legal Strategy.
  • Carry out legal research on a variety of commercial and compliance topics, including research in different jurisdictions, share knowledge and deliver training within the Legal team, and where appropriate to internal stakeholders, ensuring continued professional development.
  • Keep up to date with legal and industry developments as part of your continuing professional development and bring to the attention of the Group Legal Director and the Senior Leadership Team any relevant opportunities.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales.
  • Proven specialism in commercial or contract law, either in private practice or in-house, with demonstrable experience in a range of commercial contracts within procurement, supply chain and marketing.
  • Experience in e-commerce, sports or retail industry is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas.
  • Excellent prioritisation, organisational and motivational skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members to deliver immediate tasks.
  • Agile to change and pragmatic, you'll be a collaborative team player and be comfortable working in a high pressure, fast paced environment where identifying needs, providing solutions and adding value is a prerequisite.
  • Commercial awareness and a creative problem solver with the ability to think laterally and understand the cost and value drivers within a competitive business environment.

The expectation would require the successful candidate to attend at least 3 days a week in GSHQ, Solihull, UK.

This role is a 13-Month FTC.
