Sample Sewer

SUMMARY

The Sewer is responsible for producing a sample by following the pattern card and pattern provided by a Patternmaker. This is a temporary, in-person position. Candidates must be within reasonable commuting distance of the Mumu Warehouse in Vernon, California.

CORE DUTIES 

• Sew garments across multiple product lines according to technical instructions and patterns
• Recommend construction options to improve the garment appearance or labor efficiency
• Evaluate pattern cards for clarity and accuracy
• Evaluate garment construction for mass production efficiency
• Evaluate templates for accuracy
• Share construction techniques with coordinators, pattern makers, and fellow Sewers
• Discuss any pattern card or pattern issues with the Pre-Production Coordinator, Pre-Production Manager, and/or Patternmaker
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Candidate must be highly organized with ability to prioritize with a sense of urgency and be a team player
• Must have extensive experience in measuring garments and garment construction
• Must have adequate trim knowledge

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3 years of sewing experience
• Flexibility with regards to job responsibilities
• Able to work and think independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent follow-through and attention to detail

• Excellent listening, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondences, pattern cards, and diagrams
• Ability to write correspondence
• Ability to work with a team to solve problems
