Scotch & Soda is looking for an ambitious, freelance PR and Media Relations Specialist to join our growing team to work with US and Canadian based media outlets, editors and stylists to grow the awareness of the men's and women's fashion collections seasonally.

Weekly schedule is negotiable, alongside a remote-work opportunity for talented public relations freelancers and contractors with at least 3 years of experience. Being NYC or LA based is a plus, but not a requirement.

Role Summary

This individual will gain hands on experience and real work-life skills while having fun and contributing to a global company. As an intern, you will be challenged with completing projects that will enhance your profile as well as contribute to the Marketing and PR department's goals and objectives.

This position reports directly into the Director of Marketing and Public Relations, North America.

What You'll Do:

  • Be entrepreneurial, contribute ideas, and conceptualize story angles for various media based on seasonal collections and market trends
  • Turn research, trends, buzzwords, media insights, and expert sources into story ideas
  • Compile media assets including samples, flat lay imagery, and campaign imagery seasonally from the internal gallery
  • Ensure to keep the most up to date media contact list, segmenting key contacts into short lead, long lead, trade, trend and business categories
  • Take the time to research and identify the right local, national, and industry media to target
  • Create media-savvy pitch letters for local activations and proactively pitch media outlets and journalists
  • Develop additional media and client materials when needed, such as strategic plans, creative campaigns, or guest articles
  • Act as a valuable, reliable, and timely resource for teammates and media contacts
  • Generate media coverage of our seasonal collections, both organic within trend/shopping pages and photoshoots, alongside pitched brand stories
  • Fact/price checking for editorial inclusions
  • Monitor coverage and create press/social summaries and recaps
  • Support influencer, partnership and social ideation
  • Sample management through Fashion GPS
  • Assist in events such as bi-annual press preview

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 3 years of public relations experience with a track record of media placements
  • Experience in writing and editing media materials, such as pitch letters and news alerts
  • Experience in building targeted media lists filled with relevant outlets and reporters
  • Prior contacts a large plus
  • Attention to detail, an eye for grammar, and experience within the fashion field
  • An interest and ability to work on multiple seasons and partners at the same time
  • A proactive self-starter who works well independently and when supporting team members
  • Organized, flexible, professional, and calm when sometimes facing challenges or pressure
  • Sense of humor and an admirable work ethic
