The Department and Team
Our newly built PVH Campus of the Future in located in the Houthavens area of Amsterdam, and was opened over the course of 2016 - 2018. The buildings unify all departments into a single, centralized location to consolidate operations, increase efficiencies and foster a family spirit. The campus is designed tostimulate innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and support further company growth.

The Campus consists of four state-of-the-art buildings and is approximately 47,000 m2 in size. The location boasts offices / showrooms /People¹s Place Cafes, and is home to 1,800 Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein associates.

The Campus is run by the Facilities Department, consisting of 4 teams: Hospitality, Operations, Parcel Management and Workplace Management. The team is 36 (full-time) people strong, and is supplemented by additional outsourced security, reception and cleaning personnel. The department's goal is to provide consistent quality and excellent service to all associates and guests. The Facilities Department is also responsible for providing and maintaining office supplies, mail services, security, furniture, moving services, renovations, and maintenance, etc.

The Position

The Maintenance Assistant reports directly into the Senior Manager Maintenance & Services within the Operations team. The main responsibility of the Maintenance Assistant is to conduct below mentioned handy man activities/tasks in and around the different buildings of PVH in Amsterdam, such as, but not limited to:
  • Fixing door handles/mechanisms/door closers/strike plates/hinges
  • Replacing cylinders
  • Removing/handling/replacing ceiling tiles
  • Replacing/adjusting lights
  • Hanging frames/other wall mounted systems.
  • Installing clothing rails/shelving in various different storage systems
  • Clearing blockages in drains/toilets
  • Filling/sanding/painting of walls and door frames
  • Maintaining furniture by sanding/oiling/varnishing to ensure it stays in good condition
  • Fixing/replacing dishwashers
  • Assemble/dis-assemble/re-assemble furniture.
  • Assisting in internal moves & scheduled clean-ups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Make sure all maintenance calls/works are picked up in a timely and correct manner. Closing calls with general feedback is part of finishing a call.
  • Give input for creating a long-term maintenance (improvement) plans for the buildings, furniture and fixtures to the Senior Manager Maintenance & Services and ensuring to carry out this plan efficiently.
  • Conducting building rounds in order to notice faults and imperfections in and around the different buildings. Repair imperfections/defects immediatlety where possible. If not possible report and/or consult with the Coordinator Hard Services.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of outside spaces such as parking lot, bike sheds, and side walks.
  • Troubleshoot any technical issues that may occur such as power outages, leakages etc.
  • Make sure workshop and tool rooms are effectively organized, clean and comply to legal and RI&E requirements.

The Ideal Candidate description:
  • 2 years of experience minimum in operational corporate facilities office environment as a handy man.
  • A technical back ground and education on LBO/MBO level or equivalent experience in managing corporate facilities office environments
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and/or HVAC systems.
  • Ability to work with FMIS (Topdesk or similar), MS Office
  • Hold VCA-basis or is willing to obtain
  • Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
  • Client and service oriented
  • Detail-orientated with an aptitude for problem solving
  • Extremely organized with good communication skills
  • Oral and writing skills in English and/or Dutch
  • Team player with ability to work autonomously
