About the Role

In this role, you will support the overall Finance function for a large, multi-brand retailer in a fast-paced, complex environment. Gap Inc.'s headquarters Finance team provides financial support to various business units and the Executive Leadership teams. Support financial activities related to the Strategic Growth Office (SGO), including non-standard procurement and movement of inventory, and liaison with the Control Team, the SGO leadership, and outside companies. This role also includes partnership with cross functional teams to understand the impact of the SGO activities, forecast, and close responsibilities.

What You'll Do

  • Consults with the SGO business partners to ensure new business initiatives and the related data flow is received by all upstream and downstream systems; maintain a strong internal control environment. Support manual processes until long term automated solve is developed.
  • Supports the fiscal closing process in accordance with GAAP. Maintain accurate inventory valuation, sales data, reconciliation activities for the apparel program.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, complex balance sheet reconciliations and comprehensive supporting schedules.
  • Provides ad hoc analysis and presents conclusions and recommendations to senior management.


Who You Are

  • Comprehensive understanding of financial statements including balance sheets and general ledgers, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, and the entire financial close process
  • High level of individual accountability and the ability to influence others while maintaining key relationships in the business
  • High level of emotional intelligence and be able to work under strict deadlines
  • Savvy in entire MS Office Suite; strong Excel skills are needed to manage large amounts of data
  • Anticipate operational/program issues and develops preventative measures
  • Strong technical aptitude, including ability and desire to learn company systems and tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • 5-7 years of financial and business analysis preferred.
