As a Product Safety Manager (all genders), you ensure that Zalando's customers are not just delighted by their purchases, but that they can trust that the products they purchase are both compliant and of high quality. Together with your team you are responsible for improving and implementing product quality assurance and product safety standards in line with the latest updates and best practices from the wider industry. It will be your goal to mitigate the risk of items arriving to our customers by optimising the existing control processes.

  • You have experience in product quality and product safety within the fashion (apparel and footwear) and fashion adjacent industries (toys, sports, beauty, electronics)
  • Awareness of compliance systems and legislation governing product compliance
  • Awareness of European and National compliance for consumer products- ability to understand and translate these directives into actionable compliance measures
  • Execute a robust compliance programme which includes due diligence measures, compliance checks, documentation review, test report checks, return management
  • Direct link to the commercial business for compliance and quality topics of products. Sharing information, guiding and training
  • Ability to liaise externally with partners onboard to the Zalando compliance system and mitigate any potential risk
  • Strong Data orientation, compiling the right information and analysis to deliver the key message
  • Project management skills to methodically define problems, methodically approach and deliver sustainable solutions
  • Ability to liaise internally and externally with stakeholders to find the most appropriate information/solutions
  • Drive continuous improvement plans within the organisation, internally in team and external
  • Background in both product safety and quality with a passion for process improvement and implementation (manufacturing processes, foundation of product life cycle, testing, EU legislation)
  • Quality testing or product developer in toys, sports, beauty, electronic, footwear or fashion industry is beneficial
  • Strong communicator, ability to train and deliver clear presentations
  • Independent worker, great stakeholder management
  • Chemical testing laboratory background or chemical knowledge is beneficial
  • Proactive, fast learner, problem solver, comfortable working in English
  • Strong data profile
