JOB PURPOSE

To assist in the delivery of the Trade Compliance Strategy and ensure day to day compliance with cross border requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for assisting with the day to day customs operations and ensuring compliance with customs requirements in the US and Canada, including providing clearance instructions to customs brokers and forwarders, ad-hoc business inquiries, and non-stock shipments.
  • Product Classification - Accurately classify products to the US and Canada HS code for all product areas within the business. Additionally, provide guidance on global HS codes as needed.
  • Maintain recordkeeping in line with local requirements for the region
  • Support multiple Customs savings programs including duty drawback in the US and Canada
  • Ensure compliance with US Fish and Wildlife entry requirements, including CITES, and provide guidance to the business on requirements as needed
  • Support on the creation and maintenance of SOP's and C-TPAT accreditation
  • Provide support and reporting to the Finance and Accounting teams on duty spend, savings programs, and other general queries


PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Good academic qualifications
  • 1+ years' experience working in Customs/Trade Compliance, Logistics, or Supply Chain
  • Proficient understanding of international trade, import duties, commodity codes, incoterms, preference and valuation a plus
  • Basic use of SAP preferred
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Good standard of English
  • Ability to work in a team as well as being confident to work independently
  • Strong communication skills, particularly with commercial functions
  • Demonstrates initiative and drive to meet deadlines and work in an ambiguous environment
