The Master Data Manager will lead a team of onshore and offshore data analysts and be accountable for the accuracy and completeness of the master data, overseeing processes and providing services to Burberry stakeholders . The Master Data Manager will work very closely with the Senior Master Data Manager and Data Analysts to improve existing operational master data processes and procedures.


  • Pro-actively manages and co-ordinates the Data analyst team to ensure that agreed master data is available to the Business in a timely manner and to agreed quality levels
  • Ensures that agreed data compliance and security considerations are executed in the operation data maintenance processes
  • Coaches and mentors the Data analysts
  • Pro-actively identifies continuous improvement opportunities for master data maintenance processes and procedures from an efficiency and a quality point of view
  • Ensure all associated team reference documentation and standard operating procedures are kept up to date
  • Works with the Senior Master Data manager to ensure that master data operations impacts are addressed in all IT & Business projects
  • Liaises with & interacts with all levels of IT & Business management to ensure that data SLA's are met and mitigation plans are formulated and implemented when SLA shortfalls occur

Identifies leading practice for master data operations through benchmarking against internal and external "peers"


  • Experience of working in a data operations management role and driving process efficiency and data quality / standards
  • Previous experience with PLM, SAP and/or other central data systems is desirable
  • Experience motivating, supporting, and guiding direct reports to ensure that they are fully engaged and productive
  • Ability to be hands on as needed, while empowering direct reports to own specific activities or deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey information succinctly and concisely
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and work effectively with others at all levels across the business
  • Ability to manage large sets of data, and identify and fix errors
  • Ability to quickly manipulate data, and prepare reports as needed in an environment with large data sets
