The Role

As the Head of Platform, you will report to the Managing Director. You will be charged with leading the data, operations, and technology functions at Violet Grey and driving transformation and service improvements by liaising with FARFETCH Platform Solutions (FPS). You will ensure the alignment of Violet Grey's business needs with the Group's platform capabilities and roadmap.

With a focus on implementing integrated commerce, content, and retail technology solutions that serve our partners and customers, you will help support the implementation of our data, operational, and technology systems. The right candidate will have a solid combination of analytical, data-driven, and creative skills, as well as up-to-date knowledge of commerce/content trends and technologies. Additionally, the candidate should understand the technology and operational flows required for digital as well as physical retail channels. This role will require interaction with Farfetch Group's international teams and some travel.

What You'll Do

    • You will participate as a contributing member of the Violet Grey senior leadership team by collaborating with the leaders of Brand, Violet Lab, and Retail to develop the business strategic roadmap at Violet Grey helping us to take advantage of current and new trends, challenges, and opportunities to grow our company and improve the experiences we give our customers and partners
    • Plan , resource and lead the Violet Grey Platform team to ensure an amazing service to both internal and external customers.
    • Report back on productivity, quality, and efficiency while supporting business growth
    • Be accountable for the budget planning and adherence for Violet Grey Platform teams, projects, and resources
    • Be the lead point of contact for Violet Grey-dedicated 3rd party service providers for Data, Operations, and Technology
    • Provide regular reporting with insightful messages with the intent to raise and solve any challenges, issues, or risks
    • Identify opportunities to develop both optimization and innovation initiatives
    • Work closely with the Farfetch Group (Data, Tech, Operations, Farfetch Platform Solutions) teams on product requirements and technical designs and contribute to the Farfetch Group platform roadmap by advocating for Violet Grey's business case needs
    • Lead , coach, and motivate the Violet Grey Platform team under our company values and department mission to do their best work. This includes the warehouse team led by the Operations / IT Manager and the Client Service team
    • Contribute to the development, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Violet Grey's Data, Operations, and Technology systems, including NetSuite and its software ecosystem, content management, retail POS, and any other data, operational, or tech systems that are connected to the business
    • Scope and Manage requirements for 3rd party development partners involved in automating existing technology systems or engaged in the process of migrating to Farfetch Platform Solutions
    • Keep up-to-date with current and salient data, operations and technology trends, and technologies that pertain to the business
    • Be a continuous improvement agent, feeding our internal team as well as FPS teams with the insights
    • Research and leverage emerging technologies for new growth initiatives and/or cost savings


Who You Are

    • Strong technical profile (7+ years) with proven experience in e-commerce leading project management/operations/tech services
    • Experience managing peak operations such as seasonal promotions as well as special product drops
    • Degree/Master educated ideally in Data, Operations, and/or Technology
    • Desire to lead but are also able to thrive in the weeds
    • Detail-oriented and the ability to think strategically
    • Can clearly articulate thoughts, vision, and direction, as well as communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
    • Capable of turning complex problems into strategic solutions
    • High capability to slice complex problems and address each of them in a comprehensive manner
    • Familiar and comfortable with the technologies, the tradeoffs, and the design patterns emerging in data, operational, and tech services
    • Proven success delivering on time and on budget results. Solid understanding of NetSuite (bonus on experience with Microsoft D365).Must have experience in a 24/7/365 live environment with the ability to create escalation procedures, manage system outages, and triage issues
