Will provide technical leadership, engineering, and operational support for the overall quality of the enterprise technical environment. This includes architecture design, development, build, capacity and performance planning, documentation of deployed frameworks, provide Level 3 support, and the ongoing evaluations of core technologies for these areas. Lead efforts multi-functionally in adhering to standards and best practices.

The Senior Engineer DevOps will have a proven understanding of systems, software development, and design with Agile methodology, DevOps tools and processes, and will have experience developing business‐critical applications. This role will evangelize the DevOps methodology across IT and apply in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques. The role will drive improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function and own the CI/CD pipelines process. This position will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within systems and evaluate sophisticated and variable issues with a focus on meaningful potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information.

Responsibilities:
  • Research and ensure the strategic alignment of migration, testing, implementation plans, configuration, and support of new and existing technologies:
    • Validate the DevOps pipelines for those applications and microservices and update, as needed, to reflect appropriate owners.
    • Prioritize the migration effort in collaboration with owners and Solution Architects; migration includes requirements at application level for: Legacy and related self-service enablement.
    • Act as liaison for DevOps - communicate timelines and set expectations.
    • Work with the application team DevOps resources to understand upcoming changes and then communicate to all teams.
  • Lead multi-functional meetings with Development Teams, BA's, and User Groups to understand application design, requirements vital to build quality technology solutions:
    • Lead implementation of DevOps best practices including cloud engineering/infrastructure deployment and integrated CI/CD pipelines.
    • Utilize monitoring tools to collect metrics, logs and build dashboards to improve performance and availability
  • Research new technology in response to enterprise-scale business requirements, systems configurations, or technology innovations:
    • Develop features to improve existing CI/CD pipelines and ensure security practices are in place.
  • Develop and maintain relevant documentation for new enterprise-scale technologies:
    • Administer and own CI/CD tools, Azure DevOps (VSTS, Azure DevOps & GITHUB), ANT, Maven, Terraform, ARM, Ansible, etc.
    • Run checks with JMeter, CheckMarx, SonarQube, etc.
    • Responsible for training and providing technical mentorship to team members.
  • Improve user/external vendor relationships:
    • Lead Managed Services Team supporting DevOps functions.
    • Develop relationships to collaborate optimally with other IT Teams, cross functional teams, and impacted business users.
  • Responsible for ensuring the transition of new enterprise-scale technologies to the Deployment and Support teams and providing Level 3 support for technologies in the defined area:
    • Spin up and/or monitor cloud services like Azure Active Directory, Azure SQL, Azure Search, API Management, Mulesoft API's, Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory, etc.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or 6+ years of experience with hands on experience with relevant technologies
  • Excellent Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
  • Excellent Verbal and Interpersonal Skills (voice support for the DevOps function across IT)
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Experience in leadership role
  • Basic understanding of Project Management Principals
  • Ability to quickly learn the enterprise landscape and key roles involved for the work
  • Experience in leading outsourcing vendors
  • Experience in Azure DevOps, ANT, Maven, SonarQube, CheckMarx, Terraforms, Arm, Ansible, and other DevOps related applications
  • Experience in inspiring change and selection/standardization of DevOps tooling


Preferred:
  • Knowledge in application development
  • Knowledge in servers and platforms
  • Knowledge in public cloud
  • Knowledge of web platforms, including IIS, and WebSphere
  • Knowledge of organizational change, release management and deployment automation
  • Experience with Scripting Languages (Terraforms)
