JOB PURPOSE

As part of the Burberry Marketing & Communications team based in New York City, the PR Coordinator will help drive brand communications for the Americas market inclusive of USA, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications & Influence, the PR Coordinator will help develop and execute the brand PR strategy, furthering brand image and expanding exposure through qualitative press coverage inclusive of editorial placements and features on a national and regional level. The PR Coordinator will be culturally curious, detail-oriented, and tapped into the current media/news environment, with strong written and verbal communications skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support Senior Manager in pitching and securing qualitative press coverage inclusive of editorial stories, product placements, and features maximizing visibility for collection and product launches, brand activations, collaborations, VIP dressing, community projects, and events
  • Develop press outreach lists for global and regional press pushes considering print, digital, and social outlets at national and regional level across fashion, lifestyle, art, design, celebrity, business, travel, and technology
  • Compose press release and media alert copy for regional initiatives and events
  • Lead real-time press reporting to London central office and leadership/retail teams in the Americas
  • Contribute to brand and competitive analyses seasonally and as needed to identify editorial performance, ROI, and opportunities
  • Support Retail and Wholesale initiatives such as pop-ups, store openings, and special partnerships through communications strategy development and securing press placements
  • Research, identify, and propose opportunities for press coverage (media trends, current cultural conversations, storytelling angles, new outlets or platforms)


RESPONSIBILITIES

PERSONAL PROFILE

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2-3 years' experience working within Fashion PR or equivalent role with previous experience pitching and securing press coverage
  • Strong knowledge of key media outlets and contacts across print, digital, and social
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Fluency in programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and/or Keynote; familiarity with FashionGPS and DMR a plus
  • Ability to work efficiently on a multiplicity of projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Results-driven and solutions-oriented team player with meticulous attention to detail and keen interest in fashion and culture


MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Qualitative press coverage results across calendar year supporting all global and regional brand initiatives and priorities across Americas
  • Support Communications team in furthering performance season over season in total impressions, reach, pieces of coverage, and competitive share of voice
  • Strong follow-through and execution of communications plans
  • Support business and commercial goals maximizing brand awareness across projects
  • Excellent teamwork within Marketing & Communications department as well as wider Americas and London teams
