JOB PURPOSE

The Assistant Merchandiser will deliver the role of the Allocator and buy for a small product category during market. They are responsible for driving their small product category to deliver sales plan and Sell Thru target. Additionally, they will co-ordinate cross-divisional activities such as training allocators, both within their product division and across divisions. It is key that the Assistant Merchandiser will be able to build cross functional relationships to ensure partnership and collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre- Market & Market
  • Support in preparation for Market - including sizing, store analytics, seasonal curves
  • Plan initial Allocation and floorset build
  • Lead the buy for a small product category by store and sizing
  • In collaboration with Merchant / Manager leverage customer segmentation in buy for right product at the right place, be alert on customer needs existing and new and knowledge of offer within competition
  • Attend market collection presentation and support buy in showroom

Post Market
  • Monthly Floorset and Initial Allocation Review (extract from Buy Tool) based on current trading and changes in store network
  • Execute initial allocation by store by size including festive/seasonal builds to store
  • Prepare Buy Book / Ranging with Images and communicate to stores
  • Order Book Review - ensuring system reflects buy tool

In Season
  • Re-check allocation vs store capacity in-season (options, units)
  • Manage stock infills to store and capsules, and facilitate stock rebalancing for tactical and strategic commercial opportunities
  • Act as key point of contact for all store inventory activities (i.e. store requests, customer requests, key events, etc.)
  • Store engagement (Collect store feedback, customer segmentation, competitor insights)
  • Conduct weekly, monthly and seasonal reporting and analysis
  • Identify styles & manage LFC stock levels/ assortment
  • Execute Consolidation (delist, zero sellers and best sellers)
  • Markdown Packages, execute markdown activities and monitor trade over the markdown period
  • Support store openings / closures
  • Delivery group (Ensure monthly delivery group delivery, forecast, store shipment priority)
  • Raise POs manually (e.g., beauty & licensing, capsules, pop-ups) for initial allocation & replenishment
  • Maintain parameters in TXT
  • Holiday, and build key calendar events (EID, Festive, Fashion week etc.)
  • Hub forecasting
  • Trading in category. Support with recommendations of re-order to planning on rolling OTB, reorder of carry forward items, replenishment targets, maximise inventory and take all allocation opportunities.

Ongoing
  • Assist in training of new Allocators
  • Partnership with VM to implement product category strategy
  • Build relationships with store team through Champions program and store visits
  • Touch bases with central merchandising on category
  • Communicate product strategy, driving trade, key investments and best starters


PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Experienced allocator with 2 years minimum experience
  • Experience in a volume retail environment desirable
  • Experience of working in a multi-store environment with international reach desirable.
  • Used to analysing large quantities of data
  • Proficient in Excel: Intermediate to Advance Level
