The Global Command Center (GCC) Shift Manager ensures optimal utilization of personnel, resources, and equipment to achieve a seamless Data Center operation shift and a clean shift turn over. The GCC Shift Manager is responsible for orchestrating resources and procedures to produce consistency, security, accuracy, and alignment in the Data Center Operation shift.

The GCC Shift Manager is responsible for identifying, defining, and taking the correct actions when an Operations deviation is identified; should also be able to identify potential operational risks and take adequate measures of prevention for potential risks.

  • Manage the operation shift to ensure the successful completion of all assigned responsibilities on schedule.
  • Lead the shift turnover to guarantee a clear, complete and accurate transition between shifts.
  • Determines and implements appropriate course of action in emergencies.
  • Contacts and authorizes vendor service calls to resolve hardware/software problems and ensures satisfactory service. Contacts vendor for maintenance issues. Performs follow-ups with vendors to ensure contract compliance and satisfactory performance.
  • Coordinates with the other shifts and the team assigned to fulfill departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personal illness, vacation or education.
  • Ensures the maintenance of a clean, healthy, and efficient working environment for all Operations personnel.
  • Monitors and analyzes trends in computer operations and prepares recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Manage in one shift in a 24 x 7 x 365 operational team, whose primary functions are the high availability of all PVH services; and to respond to all Priority 1 Incidents, until the outage is resolved and fully documented.
  • Monitor corporate data network and report arising issues to the lead team members.
  • Manage team members in anticipating, mitigating, identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware and software issues on servers and network devices in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Intermediate Windows and Linux administration and troubleshooting
  • Trace route between devices / multiple devices
  • Configuration check on devices
  • Review and understand logging messages on devices
  • Apply / remove patches on devices
  • Application experience for a large variety of server based business applications
  • Responsible for team that responds to outages driving and coordinating calls, escalation and notifications to all senior and executive stakeholders across the firm.
  • Monitor and manage cloud infrastructure including SaaS, PaaS and IaaS
  • Work closely with Cloud Engineering team and establish proper operational procedures including provisioning, monitoring, security, job scheduling etc.
  • Establish automation capabilities to quickly detect and remediate potential incidents that could impact business applications
  • Escalate complex issues to senior team members while ensuring service timeliness and high satisfaction delivery.
  • Administration of Microsoft Windows Server and AD environment
  • Working knowledge and understanding of: VLANS, MAC Addresses, Default Gateway, Carrier Interfaces / Handoffs, MPLS / VPN / Point to Point etc.
  • Maintain data center operations hardware and ensure backups and restores are completed within the assigned time period. Adhere to IT department policies and procedures.
  • Recognize and identify potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion.
  • Provide additional assistance or research information to team members working on technology issues that impact system availability.
  • Support junior team members by assisting in the resolution of standard issues.
  • Attend technical trainings and proactively acquire knowledge of relevant product offerings to advance technical knowledge and understanding of data center operations.
  • Develop and manage projects that enhance the efficiency of data center operations.
Eight to ten years Operations experience with at least five years as operations leader in an environment with complex operations procedures.

Bachelor's degree in Information Science or Computer Science or related experience

Knowledge or Expertise in:
  • Understanding of cloud technologies; SAAS, PAAS, IAAS, AWS and Azure
  • First level support Windows server environment.
  • Midrange, iSeries and Unix (AIX) monitoring and administration.
  • Network level 1 supports. Basic capabilities to research, troubleshooting, and escalate network issues.
  • Platform Usage and Capabilities, basic understanding of performance issues and capacity planning.
  • ITIL foundation and/or Operation Management background.
  • Basic understanding of the industry applications, like PLM, JDA, SAP-FMS, CRM, POS.
  • IT Security principles, with emphasis in Microsoft A/C, iSeries, AIX, SAP, and Network.
  • Facilities Power Distribution understanding.
  • Facilities Environment principles.
  • Backup and Recovery Techniques.
  • Software Distribution tool usage.
  • Technical Writing and Documentation.
  • Database Management Principles and Methodologies.

  • This is a multi-shift environment spanning 24 hours: 3 day work week/12 hour days, on call for a 4th day; 7:00AM - 7:30PM Monday-Wednesday, on call every other Thursday.
  • After each quarter shift changes to ends of week: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, & every other Thursday.
