About the Role

In this role, you will work with values and purpose driven teams who's focus in helping shape a better planet. Your team leads with Do the Right Thing by innovating, defining, embedding, and leading the strategic initiatives of our Supplier, Product, and Environmental Sustainability teams as well as building our ESG analytics and reporting team. You will operationalize the work by embedding it further into Gap Inc. culture and every functional area through partnership with our Supply Chain and the Global Brand teams.

The Senior Manager of Product Sustainability supports the Product Sustainability team in executing its strategy from a sourcing context, along with supporting cross functional partners within ESG (Enriching Communities (Climate/Water/Chemistry) and Empowering Women pillars) as well as Brands, and Gap International Sourcing in leading the key workstreams for product sustainability in the supply chain, where the vast majority of Gap Inc.'s environmental and product impact manifests. The Senior Manager is a thought partner, advocate and enabler of all product strategies and initiatives that touch the supply chain. This includes strategies supporting sourcing of preferred raw materials, product impact and claims, supply chain visibility and product traceability, and product manufacturing innovation. The position is also a key enabler to the work driven by the Environment team; especially Gap Inc.'s Science Based Target for Scope 3 GHG Emissions, its Water for All strategy and its chemistry strategy as it relates to product. The position is indirectly supported by an Environmental Capability Building (ECB) field team that maintains crucial supplier partnerships to support our environmental supply chain work. The Senior Manager will also work closely with the Supplier Sustainability Leader in the supply chain, especially in support of supplier compliance for Social/Labor and Environmental areas.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Product Sustainability strategy and implementation for the supply chain, specifically in sourcing strategy development, project management, developing work plans, coordinating with project teams, developing regular meeting agendas and ensuring teams are meeting goals and deadlines.
  • Thought leadership and strategy execution for Gap Inc's Product Sustainability strategies, especially in establishing sourcing strategies for brands' fiber roadmaps, facilitating the sourcing of preferred materials by supporting the central sourcing and brand sourcing teams in building long-term partnerships with fiber suppliers upstream in the supply chain, cultivating partnerships with new and innovative fiber suppliers and partnering with the Reporting team to accurately account for Gap Inc.'s use of preferred fibers
  • Thought leadership and strategy execution for Gap Inc,'s visibility and traceability strategies, including facilitating supplier adoption of traceability platforms, understanding and facilitating data connections and reporting for visibility and traceability
  • Support Gap Inc.'s product claims work by proactively working to ensure sourcing teams' and suppliers' adherence to product claims processes
  • Thought leadership and strategy execution for Gap Inc's product manufacturing innovation that drives environmental impact, such as our denim Washwell program and other product-level water and energy saving innovations
  • Supporting execution as needed of Gap Inc's Science Based Target- Scope 3 GHG emissions reduction target, Water for All Strategy in the supply chain, especially as it relates to product, in collaboration with the Environment and ECB teams
  • Support Gap Inc.'s environmental compliance strategy, including Higg Index FEM work and Chemistry and Wastewater compliance and beyond compliance requirements as they relate to product
  • Strong focus on relationship management between the Central Sourcing, Brand Sourcing, and ESG teams to facilitate strategy execution and understand sourcing teams' pain points
  • Managing existing external consulting and partnership relationships focused on supply chain data analytics and long-term innovation initiatives for the company
  • Building Gap Inc.'s external credibility as a product sustainability leader among a growing list of external stakeholders, including presenting to internal and external audiences, including to sourcing leadership
  • Integrating Sourcing priorities and perspectives into Gap Inc's product sustainability strategies
  • Manage Product Sustainability team based on Hong Kong (2 direct reports)

  • Ability to work to tight timelines
  • Attention to detail while effectively handling multiple demands and competing priorities
  • Ability to adapt style to a variety of cultural perspectives
  • Open availability and flexibility to work according to business needs
  • Proficient in use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
