Overview

The Business of Fashion (BoF) is seeking a Social Media Producer to help drive the expansion of a fast-growing, scale-up media company.

Ever more people are encountering BoF for the first time on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or YouTube, where our accounts have a total of over 6 million followers. However, we are looking beyond follower numbers; we want to cultivate and engage with this community, and in turn create a more vibrant BoF community.

As we look to achieve this vision, we have a new opportunity for a content creator to join BoF, and take responsibility for creating, producing and posting social content, including the creation of original video and multimedia assets.  This person has a proven track record of creating and telling captivating stories online, and understands the power of social in community building. They will be a social-first thinker with a keen interest in fashion, and deep knowledge of culturally adjacent industries. They will have a wealth of ideas for how we can tailor our website’s content for our social media audience whilst delivering creatively fresh social-first stories.

The Role

Working with a cross-functional team, particularly the social media journalist in the Editorial team, you will play a key role in defining BoF’s style and approach to off-platform storytelling. You will use your visual flair and design skills to produce social-first multimedia content, both adapting and creating stories for a wide variety of social media platforms. 

What we need you to do:

  • Create high-quality, multimedia assets and posts that tell BoF stories in ways that speak to our target audiences on social media (whether turning a statistic from a story into a shareable graph or a text story into an Instagram story)
  • Work with journalists across the newsroom to identify stories that would work well on social channels and play a key role in defining our style and approach to off-platform storytelling
  • Produce creative videos and graphics and shareable multimedia posts to enhance the visibility of BoF, working closely with reporters, editorial and content teams to improve and make the most of the visualised output
  • Pitch ideas for clever coverage of industry news and find new ways to connect with BoF’s  audience across social platforms
  • Work with BoF colleagues to devise best practice for imagery, headlines and assets for off-platform use
  • Work in partnership with external platforms to experiment with different content formats 
  • Build a network of global photographers and videographers to help create engaging content both for social media and on BoF
  • Alongside the Social Media Journalist, run and maintain the social media channels to a high standard
  • Contribute to BoF’s adoption of emerging social platforms and tools, and take joint responsibility for the growth of BoF’s new social channels
  • Play a key role in the ongoing development and execution of BoF’s social media strategy
  • Develop social media ideas for BoF’s live events 
  • Promote best practice in social media around the organisation where required
  • Share insights to evolve the organisation’s understanding of online audiences and new visual formats

Who You Are

  • Embedded in internet culture, with a strong enthusiasm for fashion and its adjacent industries
  • Experience working with all major social media platforms, underpinned by a nuanced understanding of each platform’s unique ecosystem, and how to optimise content performance for each platform 
  • Have a strong visual background and the ability to create graphics, edit videos and design compelling social stories
  • An ability to summarise long, complex information and turn it into engaging and concise copy 
  • A thorough knowledge of different social-media networks, as well as emerging digital trends and platforms
  • A strong visual sense, experience in picture research and image editing skills using Adobe Photoshop
  • Experience producing and editing videos for social media 
  • Knowledge of Adobe After Effects or other animation software, and ability to shoot video, is a plus
