The Footwear/Accessories Team

The Footwear/Accessories Merchandising team is responsible for driving and implementing the collection- and merchandising strategy in line with business targets and in line with consumer- and market trends. The Senior Director manages 3 Senior Manager-level reports in Product Merchandising with a total team of 13.

The overall Footwear and Accessories team consists of 36 members who are organized in 3 key pillars:

Product Merchandising, lead by the Senior Director of Merchandising under VP FTW/ACC)

Both Lifestyles (Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein Jeans) have dedicated Merchandising teams:

Calvin Klein: features a Product Creation (Merchandising) team for Calvin Klein Footwear and Calvin Klein Accessories

Calvin Klein Jeans: features a mixed-model Merchandising team for Calvin Klein Jeans Footwear and Calvin Klein Jeans Accessories consisting of Regional Merchandisers for Calvin Klein Jeans Accessories, and Product Creation Merchandisers for Calvin Klein Jeans Footwear

Go-to-Market (lead by the VP FTW/ACC)

A joint Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein Jeans Go-to-Market team supports both merchandising lifestyle teams in taking to market the collections

Product Development (lead by two PD Directors under VP FTW/ACC)

an Accessories Product Development team develops all product for Calvin Klein Accessories

a Footwear product Development team develops all for Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Footwear

The Calvin Klein Europe Team

The Senior Director and his/her/their teams closely interact with the following overarching CKE Pillars:

Strategy: A strategy, and project management engine that is continuously planning for the future while instigating and driving insights-led optimization initiatives that future proof the organization and drive sustainable EBIT growth

Business Operations: The operational heart of the organization, responsible for ensuring the optimal system set up for efficient and effective operations and for one source of truth for continuous performance and Opex management

Design: A combined Design function that ensures we stay close to our DNA and clearly differentiate our lifestyles, while driving product excellence and elevation through deep creative expertise

Apparel PD: The technical function that drives the development footprint and the technical product development of all product created in Amsterdam for CK Europe for Apparel

Buying and Planning: An integrated Buying & Planning expertise center that balances flexibility and (cost) efficiency by working closely with production partners and product creation and sales functions

Marketing: A highly skilled marketing machine that drives brand awareness and engagement with consumer centric campaigns that amplify our lifestyle and product messaging while developing a strong I&D platform

Key Responsibilities
  • People Management - Lead the Calvin Klein Accessories and Footwear Teams towards excellence by breaking down business objectives, while continuing to build strong brand equity & commercial success. Focus on Development Plan and growth to make sure talents are retained
  • Consumer Connection- Analyze and be constantly aware of EMEA+ market needs, highlighting opportunities and possibilities of growth in line with strategy. Be informed and up-to-date on product trends and innovation to allow the brand to be market leader; Work closely with Market Merchandising to be the voice of end consumer, gathering important qualitative and quantitative feedback to develop product which positions us close to the end consumer needs
  • Product - Have a strong product vision and strategy to be translated into all GTM tools - from Market Launch presentation tools to VM showroom set up; work with team to perfect / propose / implement strong tools to allow impactful collection presentations to all stakeholders in the different product development milestones
  • Range Planning - Ensure collection structure plans are appropriate according to product strategy, and constantly works to allow best alignment across divisions; approach delivery flow strategically to maximize business opportunity and constant cross-divisional alignment in Collection message, in partnership with PD and B&P departments
  • Processes - Provides a clear frame / workflow and clear priorities to the team in order to help them manage key steps and tasks in a timely and efficient manner; understand collection development process and flow, and masters clear deliverables;
  • Forecasting and Planning - Coordinate and supervise sales forecasts to optimize delivery process through correct capacity planning and minimize inventory risks
  • Collaboration - work with their own team and cross divisionally with other teams on key priorities;
  • KPIs - collaborate to set and then constantly monitor KPIs to meet company targets, whilst pushing the Collections forward ensuring brand elevation and equity is preserved

The Idea Candidate
  • Accomplished Merchandising and Go-to-Market leader with 10+ years experience in product creation and merchandising (Accessories and Footwear category experience is a must)
  • Highly developed merchandising and commercial sense and passion for/understanding of fashion trends
  • Integral understanding of the FTW/ACC product creation function and of all creation processes
  • Demonstrated ability to set and communicate a clear vision and to drive results
  • Preferred experience and successful track record in both global and regional roles covering businesses types from regular inline, over to SMU and collaborations
  • Excellent knowledge of the EMEA marketplace, ideally knowledge of the APAC market place
  • Strong understanding of premium distribution landscape vs the sneaker market, able to work on collection segmentation to maximise potential in each distribution tier
  • Experienced in successfully leading a regional business within a global context
  • Well-versed in managing growth across multiple divisions, while maintaining focus and meeting deadlines and objectives in merchandising and go-to-market
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Process and calendar driven mindset with excellent time management skills (work on tight agenda and set deadlines) and able to reprioritize activities in agile way avoid excessive workload
  • Proven ability to consolidate various market needs into one compelling regional agenda; able to drive this agenda with key stakeholders inside countries, region and inside the global organization
  • An experienced professional who executes to ensure growth, and demands the highest standards of him/herself
  • Proven ability to earn respect and credibility throughout an organization
  • Strong history of building and retaining highly effective, successful and engaged teams
  • Possesses very strong people management skills and an inclusive way of working
  • Hands-on team leader who can delegate, develop, and motivate a team to encourage a high level of ownership/accountability and productivity
