We are looking for all rounder Design Assistant with a keen interest in fabrics and trims with excellent CAD skills to join our Design Team. 

The Design Assistant is a key and a diverse role; one which also requires excellent organisational, communication and design skills.

As a person, you will naturally be creative with a well-developed sense of colour and an innate love and knowledge of woven and jersey textile fabrics and prints.

  • Entry level job, ideally with 1 years' experience
  • Fashion BA degree
  • Passion for fabrics and textiles with excellent knowledge 
  • Sound understanding of garment construction
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Suite knowledge - Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.
  • Proficient with MS Excel

You will be able to work to tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment and thrive in a busy department with ever changing priorities. With a Design or Textile degree and internship/work experience under your belt  you will be keen to progress in your Design path.

Core Responsibilities

Working within a busy design team, your responsibilities whilst not exhaustive, will include:

FABRIC SOURCING & DEVELOPMENT

  • Independently source fabrics from existing mills, source new fabric mills and attend trade fairs.
  • Create and maintain accurate price lists for sourced fabrics
  • Order all sampling fabrics and knitwear yarns for each season and follow critical path
  • Send fabric swatches, colour standards and fabric rolls to factories/mills
  • Archive all fabrics from past seasons with all key fabric information
  • Sales analysis of fabric performance season to season.
  • Action lab dips, track and approve and mange colour standards.
  • Managing and maintaining the archive of past season's best-selling styles 
  • Organising and maintaining records of departmental contacts and suppliers
  • Providing general administration support for the design department on a daily basis
  • Organising and booking retail store visits and foreign trips for Designers

CAD/SAMPLES

  • Create proportioned CADs from Designer's sketches with all garment construction details provided by designers.
  • Create coloured CADs / print-filed CADs on photoshop/illustrator
  • Create factory-ready tech packs for all garments with all notes and garment construction details
  • Create sample programme sheets, keep an up to date sample tracker.
  • Action samples with factories to be produced, liaising with suppliers, factories and mills.
  • Organise sample garments when they arrive - tag and keep track of deliveries.
  • Organise and keep track of all physical garments for all seasons.
  • Archive garment samples from past seasons
  • Create line sheets, range overviews.
  • Sales analysis of garments sold well for each season - keep up-to-date folder of sales performance for Creative Director and Designers.

TRIM SOURCING

  • Source trims for the season, meet with suppliers and made selections. 
  • Order and track orders through to delivery.
  • Archive sampling trims, buttons, zips and poppers with article reference.
