Buying & Production Manager

GAUGE81 is a young fast-growing fashion scale-up based on the Keizersgracht in Amsterdam. Through the use of striking angles and playful proportions, GAUGE81 (pronounced GO-SH eighty-one) blurs the line between evening and casual wear.

Our activities include everything from the design, sourcing and manufacturing of the collections as well as marketing and PR. Our clients include Net a Porter, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Moda Operandi and Browns Fashion.

As Head of Buying & Production you are responsible for the complete buying & production process from kick off to end-product. You will be managing a team of 3 FTE and be responsible in further growing and developing this team. As Buying & production manager you will work closely together with the Head of Development, and you report directly to the department Director.

As Buying & Production Manager, you will be responsible for the following operations: 

• Manage the buying and production team and be responsible for the department performance.
• Control the complete buying process for development and production.
• Ensuring production process is flowing and deadlines are met.
• Preparing and placing purchase orders.
• Daily contact with suppliers worldwide.
• Travel to factories mainly in Portugal and Istanbul to maintain a strong relation and to negotiate prices and delivery times.
• Negotiate prices to reach target margins.
• Anticipate with the growth of the company and help to scale up the department.

What do you bring:

• A minimum of 5 years working experience in Buying and Production, Fashion is a pre
• Excellent system skills (especially Excel)
• Willing and able to travel to suppliers
• Professional level of English required (both verbal and in writing)
• Able to work from the office located in the city center of Amsterdam
