Summary Statement: The Director of Store Planning Special Projects will lead the team of Project Manager(s), Store Planners, and Production Coordinators, and directly manage all exclusive special projects for Neiman Marcus Current stores, for any potential New Stores if applicable, Major Remodels and Minor Remodels, and as part of Interior Maintenance projects. This position will coordinate with Senior Management, Store Management, Merchants, Sales Support Vice Presidents and Directors as well as Consultants to facilitate multiple projects from start-up to completion.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Responsible for directing and mentoring the Project Manager(s), Store Planners, and Project Coordinators in the management of the planning, design, and implementation process for all exclusive special projects intended for distribution within new stores, major remodels, and maintenance projects.
  • Oversees, provides leadership and direction to direct team as well as oversee productivity and performance management & efficiency.
  • Partners closely with and supports Vice President, Store Construction & Planning to identify and develop scope of work for potential exclusive special projects that will enhance overall customer experience, increase sales, the productivity of the stores and the productivity of the division. Examples of special project initiatives include but are not limited to: special category fixture programs, visual "pavilion" program, personal stylist suite rollout, cocktail capsule rollout etc.
  • Responsible for moving Neiman Marcus forward from a design perspective, developing and delivering next generation environments that exceed customer expectations for the luxury experience.
  • Responsible for overseeing the management of expense accounts and budgets related to special projects.
  • Responsible for refinements and maintenance of our data base with respect to special project schedules, budgets, and scope of work information.
  • Monitors and audits data entry by direct reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture
  • Previous retail project management experience a plus
  • Excellent computer skills: AutoCAD knowledge, Excel & Word proficiency, SalesForce, and Smartsheets
  • Excellent communication, presentation skills and organizational skills
  • Drafting skills and knowledge of construction detailing
  • Team player and ability to motivate/energize teams
  • Work Experience: At least 7-10 years of store planning/design experience with a major department/specialty store or design firm.
  • Demonstrated change leadership within team and organization
  • Previous people leadership experience including developing, training, and growing team members to maximize their full potential.
  • Proven and strong cross functional partnership track record
  • Proven track record achieving results across multiple businesses
  • Previous experience navigating complex business problems, collaborating with leads across corporate functions, presenting at the executive level, working with corporate business partners, and leading cross-functional large-scale initiatives

  • Associates must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on business need, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays
