Product Copy Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Product Copy Supervisor leads a highly productive team of copywriters for NMG brands: Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Horchow.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Write approximately 40-70 product descriptions daily for assigned categories; paying special attention to calendar deadlines, product launches, and special promotions.
  • Manage a team of 4-6 direct reports
  • Editing and stylistic ownership of product copy loading to the website. Ensures high volumes of product descriptions (600-900 weekly) are loaded with copy that is accurate, complete, grammatically correct, compliant with regulations, and adherent to corporate style standards.
  • Liaising with merchants to resolve discrepancies and data issues that prevent product from loading.
  • Assistance in recruiting and interviewing new staff
  • Onboarding new copywriters and freelance staff
  • Communication leadership-Keeping copy team well informed of changes, challenges, and triumphs. This includes co-coordinating staff meetings; compiling information for team updates.
  • Continually seek out learning opportunities
  • Partners closely with Product Copy Manager in the management and enablement of copy staff's performance; giving timely, effective feedback
  • Routing Not On Web report and campaign items to the team
  • Acquiring supplies for staff, triaging team's IT/technical support, and ensuring staff is well equipped in a remote environment


Job Requirements:
  • Leadership experience on a creative team within a highly productionized environment
  • Good coaching skills
  • Awareness of Web best practices, including SEO
  • Superior level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Flexibility in maintaining heavy workload, prioritizing competing deadlines
  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to effectively train others
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of fashion/experience in a retail environment preferred
  • Eye for overcoming roadblocks and keeping staff engaged
  • Bachelor's Degree required - Journalism or English preferred
