JOB PURPOSE
To provide high quality, commercially focussed, strategic advice to support the HR function and the wider business
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Advising HR and the business on day-to-day employment law issues across the UK and EMEIA (including in relation to re-organisations, changes to terms and conditions, ill-health cases, employee disputes, complex disciplinary, grievance and performance management cases, flexible working requests, equal pay issues, family rights and other ad hoc queries).
• Supporting HR and the business on larger projects, such as collective redundancies, TUPE transfers and equality and diversity initiatives.
• Advising on senior hires and complex exits.
• Drafting and negotiating settlement agreements.
• Drafting changes to template employment documents, such as contracts and post-termination restraints.
• Dealing with employment litigation (other than advocacy, unless experienced).
• Providing support to commercial lawyers in respect of the employment aspects of contracts with service providers.
• Reviewing and advising on employment-related policies.
• Keeping the HR team up-to-date in respect of employment law changes, including preparing and delivering training.
• Instructing external lawyers where necessary in relation to the above and co-ordinating advice as appropriate to ensure it is fit for the business.
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Qualified solicitor with ~2-3 PQE+, preferably from an established city or west end firm
- Candidate should have specialised in employment law upon qualification
- Candidate should be able to operate with minimal supervision and in direct contact with internal clients
- Candidate should ideally have experience in dealing with cross border matters involving working with overseas counsel
- Strong academic credentials essential
- In-house experience preferable
- Knowledge of languages an advantage
