The Coordinator - Rapid Prototyping will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the rapid prototyping facility for the jewelry product design department. This individual will cover projects in all jewelry product categories.

3D Printing & STL Maintenance
  • Collect CAD files from Product Development and Design
  • Convert CAD files into 3DM for model evaluation and preparation, including the addition of support structures and ensuring models are watertight
  • Convert 3DM files into STL and process through Magics
  • Process and paint 3D models to prepare them for various presentations.

Maintenance and upkeep
  • Clean and regularly maintain a highly trafficked facility containing several 3D printers, a spray booth, ultrasonic and oven.
  • Ensure that the facility is properly organized and maintained in an orderly fashion
  • Maintain inventory of all supplies and ensure that they are replaced as needed.
  • Proactively evaluate and actively participate in improvements to the structure and process of model making.
  • Partner with 3 rd party vendor to resolve technological malfunctions and ensure contracts are properly executed.

Technology
  • Remain up to date and proficient on rapid prototyping & CAD technology.
  • Work with Director-Advanced Design and Director-Design Management to evaluate equipment needs in conjunction with emerging technologies.

Required Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have a degree related to CAD and experience running and maintaining various 3D technologies.
  • 1+ years of professional experience with Design for Manufacturing in the jewelry industry.
  • Thorough understanding of jewelry manufacturing techniques and materials.
  • Expert skill-set, high effectiveness and efficiency in Rhino and Magics.
  • Superior organizational skills, flexibility and ability to adapt.
  • Solution and multi-tasking oriented.
  • Excellent team player with a professional manner and ability to work well in collaboration with others.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal goldsmith and/or metalsmith training.
  • Experience as a bench jeweler.
  • Extensive experience working with/knowledge of diverse materials (e.g. woods, ceramics, rubber, etc.) and gemstones/diamonds.
  • Knowledge of various materials including but not limited to precious metals in various states (cast, machined, stamped, etc.), gemstone materials (strength, hardness, toughness, etc.) and advanced materials (ceramics, coatings - PVD, DLC).
