Woo (by ITV) is a new generation digital media brand and marketplace redefining wellness.  We make mental health and wellbeing discoverable, aspirational  and culturally relevant. 

Woo aims to engage with Gen Z (and Gen Y) with their passion points: music, fashion, activism and culture but through a wellness lens.  We take un-conventional practices that are designed to improve the human experiences, align them with cultural icons and deliver it in a way that feels accessible, relatable and desirable.  Think documentaries, reality series, and endorphins releasing videos, audio and beyond.

The content proposition is matched with a marketplace of curated consumer products designed to make you feel good, across categories such as apparel, supplements,  homewares, tech and beauty.

Woo is a business born out of ITV’s Studio 55 Venture in-conjunction with Founders Intelligence.  The was founded and  led  by award winning CMO, Stephen Mai (ex Boiler Room, VICE, LADbible, MTV, ASOS) and is launched with a founding team from some of the world's most exciting youth media and ecommerce brands.

This role entails…

An exciting opportunity has opened to join the Woo Marketplace team as a Business Development Lead. Woo is a new generation cultural media brand, underpinned by a marketplace launching in 2022.

Woo is designed to make wellness discoverable, aspirational and culturally relevant through entertainment, products and storytelling for a Gen Z audience. The marketplace will provide physical solutions to this, creating a space which makes wellness discoverable, aspirational and culturally relevant for Generation Z. The marketplace is a curation of products designed to make Gen Z and Y feel good.

The Business Development Lead will work with the marketplace team sourcing, curating and building relationships with vendors to launch on Woo Marketplace. They will work to company brand-signing targets, utilising their existing network of retail and brand contacts to build a highly curated assortment.

This is an exciting opportunity to:

  • Identify high potential target brands for the Woo marketplace
  • Set up and lead pitch meetings and commercial negotiations in line with company targets
  • Build and manage pipeline of partnership conversations
  • Conduct competitor analysis on the current market and reporting back identifying emerging brand and product trends; reviewing category performance and making appropriate suggestions
  • Work closely with other internal teams to identify future brand partnership opportunities for marketplace brands across marketing and onsite as part of commercial negotiations

Minimum role criteria:

  • Strong experience in developing business with the retail industry,  and a network of contacts ideally in the fashion, menswear and/or beauty sector
  • Experience of pitching to and onboarding brands
  • Understanding of ecommerce and retail landscape
  • Understanding of how to build out a sales pipeline
  • Ambitious and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Great interpersonal skills, ability to interact with partners in a professional and friendly manner
  • An interest in youth culture products across wellness, fashion, beauty & lifestyle
  • A keen interest in ecommerce and marketplace

Desirable role criteria:

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced, digital start-up environment is a plus but not essential
  • Experience of pitching marketplace opportunities
  • Ability to influence decision making with contacts at all seniority levels
  • Proven track record of hitting sales targets
  • Strong attention to detail and organisation with the ability to meet deadlines, often while working independently
