About

The BFC is looking for an experienced Senior Communications Executive to join the team and work on UK & international communications and press relations. The Senior Executive will play a key role in delivering communications for the BFC events portfolio, generating maximum and positive press coverage and publicity for LFW, The Fashion Awards, the BFC Initiatives, London show rooms, and all other BFC initiatives and events.

Responsibilities

Business Skills

  • Support the Head of Communications in the creation and delivery of the BFC communications strategy to pioneer British fashion on the global stage
  • Works across portfolio of campaigns to build awareness and international press coverage, increasing the brand authority of BFC and its initiatives
  • Relationship management of media, stylists, agencies, agents, VIPs, PRs and designers.
  • Point of contact for all external communication and talent agencies employed by the BFC; handling the day-to-day relationship including project briefs, deadlines and execution
  • Personal network of media and cultural contacts, well connected with exceptional communication skills
  • Team management: delegating and developing
  • Communications Assistant in addition to recruiting and managing freelancers, interns and assistants during LFW and as required Comms liaison across BFC departments – act as point of contact for comms inquiries within the business
  • Delivering individual tasks whilst maintaining focus on overall objectives
  • Demonstrating best practice in managing communications and quality standards
  • Drives best practice behaviours and works as a team to meet BFC’s objectives to maintain integrity and reputation

 

Expertise Skills

  • Building and updating communication plans for team to meet objectives – work with wider communications team on critical paths
  • Press Relations – developing and maintaining relationships with UK & international media, stylists, broadcasters, agencies, influencers, and VIPs at senior level
  • Securing press coverage with key media including internationals, nationals, regionals, supplements, glossies, on-line, broadcasters, radios etc.
  • Working with Head of Communications to devise comms plan and secure relevant interviews for BFC C-Levels including BFC CEO and Chair Ownership and management of BFC International Guest Programme; incl. planning, budgeting, guest liaison, invitations, story pitching, and co-ordination plus entertainment during attendance and seasonal reporting
  • Oversee the LFW Accreditation process; ownership of Media and Buyers Accreditation Lists
  • Brainstorm creative ideas and ownership and delivery of PR campaigns, BFC Podcast and influencer activations for BFC portfolio of events and partners
  • Drafting, editing and distribution of all press releases and press collateral including guest programme material, press committee meeting notes as well as other relevant comms materials, inc. first stage sign off for Comms Assistant
  • Oversee the production of post-event evaluation reports for BFC events portfolio, showing seasonal comparisons and ROI measurement – ability to build a narrative around key successes and challenges
  • Providing strategic advice and counsel on the evaluation report and its impact on the comms strategy
  • Management, execution and publication of local and global events
  • Curating and compiling guest lists for events
  • Pro-actively seeking and maintaining relationships with press through meetings, events & networking
  • Reviewing press kits for distribution
  • Advising Head of Communications of new opportunities/avenues to keep PR strategy innovative and international
  • Supervise media monitoring Overseeing budgets

 

Key Relationships

Maintain and develop positive and strong working relationships with:

  • UK & International press and broadcasters Designers’ PRs Internal BFC teams and Senior Management Team (SMT), BFC partners, patrons, ambassadors, celebrities, influencers, agents and stylists

Requirements & Key Attributes – Skills & Requirements

  • Substantial experience in public relations is essential
  • Strong writing ability
  • Event management experience preferred
  • Experience of team management and development required
  • Delivers high level of relationship management and negotiating skills
  • Highly driven and results focused with a positive and creative approach and strong work ethic
  • Excellent communication skills both face-to-face and on the telephone
  • Confidence in level of authority and decision making skills
  • Highly organized with ability to project manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Salary & Benefits

  • Job type: full time, permanent
  • Salary Band: £TBC - £TBC, dependent on experience
  • Standard company benefits, including 25 days annual holiday
  • Standard company working hours, flexibility required during events, exhibitions, etc.
  • Confirmation of appointment and eligibility to benefits, subject to successful completion of a 3 month probationary period
