JOB PURPOSE

To effectively lead, motivate and engage the team leaders to achieve the budgeted production targets, while ensuring the specified quality standards. Follow the lean manufacturing methodology and a right first time approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that the company health and safety policy is followed by all production teams and make sure the team leaders/ safety champions conduct daily health and safety audits on their lines at the start of each working day.
• Effectively monitor and improve quality standards and create effective working relationships with other supporting teams i.e. Cutting room, quality and technical departments.
• Lead focus teams to resolve quality issues based on the inspection data provided by the QC inspectors on the cell and the non-conformance reports provided by the quality department.
• Coordinate with the planning and cutting dept. to load the production orders in collaboration with the production management.
• Effectively manage cell leaders, maintaining a high standard of communication through team briefing, consultation, employee reviews and one to one performance conversations.
• Work with the Industrial engineers, training instructor and performance improvement coach to create the optimum line balance, maximise team performance and up skill the team.
• Ensure that the poor performance is addressed. Manage performance improvement plans with the performance improvement coach and the cell leader.
• Check the bi-hourly production figures collected by the cell leaders and identify opportunities to remove bottle necks/ performance issues soon as they occur. Escalate the issues to production management in timely manner.
• Push late deliveries and ensure all orders are delivered on time in full.
• Ensure authorised absence and flexible holidays are managed in line with production demand.
• Coordinate absence and flexible holiday cover across all lines. Where skills cover is missing, coordinate with the other senior team leaders on the shift to check skills availability.
• Communicate with the assistant production manager to elevate any issue that has potential to affect quality or output targets from being achieved.
• Coordinate with industrialisation team to participate for style handover meetings and monitor the pilot garments.
• Work with Industrial Engineer and the cell leader, to understand the operations breakdown, line layout and assign production operators to the operations based on their skills and performance.
• Work with the continuous improvements coaches to use lean techniques to resolve quality/ production issues and ensure there is effective visual management on the cell
• Communicate with the corresponding senior team leader on the other shift if there are any issues which may affect health and safety, quality, or output.
• Check the production plan/ daily WIP report to identify the order status and WIP levels. Chase late orders with the cell leaders to the point of completion.

PERSONAL PROFILE

• Certificate/ Diploma in clothing manufacture or IMS certificate, or equivalent
• Must be numerate and analytical
• Must be fully conversant with all trench coat/Outerwear manufacturing operations
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
