The Team

The Tommy Jeans design team drives the design and development for our global Tommy Jeans collection, a multi-product range for the GenZ consumer. Based in the Amsterdam European HQ, the team is split into various sub teams: TJ Womenswear, TJ Menswear, TJ Denim and Graphics. These four teams work closely together in an informal and inclusive setting to create a desirable collection for our consumer.

The Position

This opportunity is for a Senior Designer role within the Tommy Jeans women's design team and its focus will be on all heavyweight knit and T-shirt product categories, working closely together with the Graphics team and reporting into the Design Director.

In this role you will be required to build a cohesive product range based on sales, market demands and current trends befitting the Tommy Jeans brand and GenZ consumer. Collaborating with the Product Development, the Tech and the Graphics team, the aim is to offer our customer the best product possible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct product research based on current trends and competitors and send our vendors the seasonal sourcing briefsin order to innovate in quality, detail and silhouette.
  • Drive the design development for the Heavyweight Knit and Graphic Tees product groups e.a. sketching, creating garment work sheets and setting up the Build of Material in PLM.
  • Lead fittings, assess protos and see to the administrative follow-up throughout the various phases in the design development process.
  • Present your designs both digitally (Digital Foamboard) and in person to the larger TJ team and key stakeholders.


The Ideal Candidate:
  • A Bachelor degree/or similar in Fashion Design or an equivalent design diploma.
  • Has a minimum of 7 years of experience in apparel design, preferably in womenswear and with the knitted / jersey product.
  • Must have a very strong understanding of the Tommy Jeans brand and a feminine design handwriting matching its DNA. An affinity with youth culture / GenZ is highly preferable.
  • Has a hands-on approach as well as a collaborative, flexible mentality.
  • Has "informal leadership" experience e.a. mentoring (junior) designers.
  • Has the ability to keep a "helicopter overview" and has both excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Is technically skilled in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. A keen interest and / or aptitude in 3D design (CLO / Browzwear) would be commendable, but is not required.
  • English language skills both verbal and in writing, as it is our working business language.
