ROLE OVERVIEW

The Associate Buyer will establish strong relationships with vendors and will partner with buyers to ensure merchandise mix in an attempt to continually improve assortments for our eCommerce and retail platforms. You will be responsible for anticipating potential problems and risks, and generating ideas, insights, and solutions to resolve potential problems. You will also partner with all operational and analytical divisions to achieve objectives, and proactively solicit partnerships with colleagues on crossover vendors to increase leverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop an understanding of the needs, wants and expectations of the customer and understand the differences in how they shop by channel
• Build an understanding of the market and competitors in their category
• Execute a seasonal merchandise strategy in collaboration with Buying and Planning based on customer, fashion trend, and input from eCommerce Site-Merchandising that drives growth for stores and online
• Build compelling core and extended assortment to maximize potential across store clusters, new stores, and online
• Influence merchandising vision and product priorities for stores, online merchandising teams, and marketing to drive engagement across all customer touch points
• Communicate customer and product vision to suppliers, identify new suppliers, and negotiate partnership expectations and profit opportunities
• Partner in the execution of Company strategies, providing current and future assortment feedback where applicable
• Align with buying team on open-to-buy management and plan revisions to achieve financial targets and strategic objective
• Influence and mentor assistants

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Experience as an Assistant Buyer and one or more of the following: Assistant Buy Planner, Assistant Replenishment Buyer, eCommerce Merchandiser, or Site Merchandiser
• Minimum one year of buying experience
• Minimum one year of planning or allocating experience
• eCommerce experience preferred
• Expertise in merchandise category preferred
• Proficiency in Google Suite
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
• BA|BS degree or equivalent work experience
• English, additional language(s) an advantage
• Schedule of this position: Monday - Friday | Core business hours | Onsite
