THIS PLACEMENT IS ONLY FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY STUDYING AT UNIVERSITY, WITH A PLACEMENT AS A REQUIREMENT OF THEIR COURSE

 

We are offering Student Work Placement Internships for enthusiastic and driven fashion students to join our company, for a minimum of 3 months. If you are looking to gain experience in the involvements of a busy, successful fashion label we would love for you to join the team at Emilia Wickstead. During the placement you would see the development of a collection from first sketches through to the London Fashion Week Show. A good attitude and a high level of motivation is beneficial. You will learn how a luxury brand operates and prepares for London Fashion Week.

 

As part of the design team, your responsibilities would include:

 

  • Working closely to the Creative Director and design team Photoshop and Illustrator skills mandatory (CADS, colouring sketches, updating range plan) Assisting with updating moodboards and collection boards Assisting in design fittings Fabric and trim sourcing Organizing the studio room Filing and organising fabric archive Contacting fabric mills to follow up on developments Assisting during London Fashion Week

The kind of student who would be suitable:

 

  • Good understanding of the fashion industry Highly motivated to learn Undergraduate in fashion Positive & self-motivated attitude Hardworking Organized and good attention to details Strong communication skills Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Excel is essential

What you will learn / we will teach you:

 

  • The Intern will be working closely with Emilia in her design studio. Therefore he/she will be immersed and be able to observe every single aspect of a fashion business: from fittings to production meetings through to wholesale feedback from customers. His/her tasks will include following fabric sourcing, updating inspiration and design boards, organising fabric and research archive, making technical drawings and colour options for prints, creating visuals for invitations. Because the design team is very small the trainee will be given a lot of responsibilities early on and will gain experience in running their own projects from beginning to end. They will learn how to multitask and deal with managing different deadlines. During the 2 weeks leading up to the LFW show, the trainee will get to assist during the styling and casting process. The trainee will observe how a London Fashion Week show is put together. The trainee will gain a lot of experience using the adobe suite by working on CADS, fabric simulation and prints. Travel Expenses (within reason) will be reimbursed
