Comme des Garçons is looking for a new team member to join the Visual Merchandising department based in Paris. 

Responsibilities include:  

  • Local VM Management
    • Planning and execution of visual merchandising for the Paris Comme des Garçons stores
    • Work closely with Paris retail and commercial teams to meet sales targets through strategic visual merchandising, while creating impactful displays aligned with the company image
    • Partner with special projects team on graphics & signage as well as architecture & installations
    • Support the visual identity of the Paris showroom
  • International VM Management:
    • Development of visual merchandising guidelines and visual support documents
    • Coordination of global Comme des Garçons installations for all international stores
    • Develop strong relationships and provide guidance to international visual merchandising teams
    • Collaborate closely with both internal & external teams and suppliers
  • Special Event and Launch Management:
    • Coordinate special events and launches in all international stores
    • Visual planning and development of external events
  • Administration :
    • Responsible for photographic reporting of general visual merchandising reports and installations
    • Digital management and organization of visual merchandising files
    • Development of the visual merchandising prop and furniture inventory

The Ideal Candidate 

  • Fluent in French and English. Japanese is a plus but not a requirement 2 to 5 years professional experience gained in a similar position or field Proficient with Microsoft 365 environment, InDesign and Illustrator Strong photography and digital layout skills
  • Ability to read and understand architectural construction documents and specifications
  • Decisive, structured and organized, with a sharp eye for detail
  • Excellent problem-solver, ability to navigate varying edits to simultaneous project timelines and experience in managing projects from from A-Z
  • Excellent communication skills - interpersonal, written and verbal  Ability to work independently, in addition to being part of a team Interested in the world of Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market Reports to the Director of Visual Image


Language skills 

  1. English, Full Professional proficiency
  2. French, Full Professional proficiency
  3. Japanese, a plus but not a requirement


Rei Kawakubo started manufacturing and selling women's wear under the name of Comme des Garçons in 1969. In 1973 the company was established under the same name. Menswear was introduced in 1978. The first show was held in Tokyo in 1975, and a subsidiary was established in Paris in 1981 with international development in mind. Rei Kawakubo remains at the helm of Comme des Garçons and continues to oversee all creative and business aspects of the company
