Full time: 35 hours a week Monday to Friday

A fantastic opportunity to become the Senior Pattern Cutter at Margaret Howell responsible for producing patterns from first toile through to bulk production for our high end shirts for menswear and womenswear.

Margaret Howell is a contemporary British clothing designer who has worked successfully in men’s and women’s clothing for over five decades. Today, Margaret Howell clothes are sold worldwide with 12 own shops in Europe, over 100 outlets in Japan and an established online business.

The role comprises collaborating with designers, development and production teams to ensure the accurate interpretation of sketches and cutting patterns for all shirts in our Mainline range. You will take an active role in the fitting process, undertake pattern alterations in preparation for the production samples and oversee the manufacture of samples. As Manager of the annual student intern you will be responsible for developing their skills and ensuring they receive broad experience in production.

To be considered for our role as Senior Pattern Cutter, you will have:

- Significant previous experience as a pattern cutter for high end shirts, achieving critical path deadlines

- The ability to work with card and digital patterns (eg Gerber) and produce full graded specifications

- Excellent eye and attention to detail

- Ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders, designers, quality control and rest of production team to meet deadlines

- High level computer literacy, particularly Office package (including Excel), SAP and WFX (or equivalent)

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

- Experience of supervising and mentoring junior staff

A genuine interest in and passion for the Margaret Howell brand is preferred.

Established in 1970 and incorporated in 1987 Margaret Howell Limited is an internationally recognised design company with more than 100 shops and concessions including London, Paris, Florence and throughout Japan. Under the design direction of Margaret Howell the company produces men's and women's clothing and an extensive household goods collection produced by specialist manufacturers in the UK and Italy. It's MHL label was established in 2004 and is workwear inspired and European produced. Since 1999 the company has produced shirts and nightwear in its own North London factory.

The headquarters, based at 34 Wigmore Street, London, accommodate both the design studio and flagship shop selling the mens and womens collections alongside homeware products that complement the design ethos, including Poole Pottery, Ercol and Anglepoise together with designers such as Robert Welch and David Mellor.
