Summary of Responsibilities:
The Network Architect will report to the Director of Infrastructure Engineering and be responsible for all engineering aspects of the network infrastructure domain, including: long-term planning, design, and implementation of enterprise solutions focused in the areas of network (LAN, WAN, Wireless, firewall) and datacenter technologies. Job functions include planning, implementation design, deployment, and maintenance of a multitude of communications platforms and technologies. This position will interface with the business and project teams to understand requirements and deploy solutions accordingly and will work closely with other engineers and architects to develop technical domain summary documents, strategic roadmaps, and to implement new technologies as part of large-scale lifecycle programs and enterprise key initiatives.

What You'll Do:
- Expertise - Subject Matter Expert and skilled administrator for the network domain
- End-to-End Responsibilities - Planning, design, deployment, testing, documenting, troubleshooting, and auditing of end-to-end network solutions
- Collaboration - Collaborate with internal and external teams to understand solution requirements as well as enterprise architecture to ensure designs are aligned with business strategy
- Technology Selection - Evaluate new and emerging technologies to provide recommendations on those that best fit the organization and environment
- Technical Strategy - Work with senior leadership and IT partners to build and develop plans that align with business needs and fiscal requirements
- Technology Standards - Build, maintain, and socialize network documentation
- Security Standards - Collaborate with internal security teams to define minimum security standards, then socialize and deploy according to those standards
- Change Requests - Follow change processes and coordinate with business partners to schedule, implement, and perform post-change testing
- Incident Response - Partner with Infrastructure Operations to assist with incident response, acting as an escalation point for operations and network contractors
- Consulting - Consult with external partners, business contacts, and internal teams to understand solution requirements and implement accordingly
- Continuous improvement - Continuously identify simplification and optimization opportunities in the infrastructure's processes and technologies
What You Bring:
- At least 10 years of experience in network engineering strategy, architecture, design, and implementation as applied to complex computing systems
- Minimum 15 years industry experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience working with Cisco routing and switching technologies, Cisco & Aruba wireless or equivalents, including data center network design
- Experience architecting complex, secure networks for infrastructure modernization efforts
- Experience in implementing and supporting dynamic networks with infrastructure redundancy, and network link diversity to ensure high availability and disaster recovery
- Exceptional documentation skills that can clearly articulate technical designs, issues and constraints, procedures, and network assessments
- Strong analytical and problem determination/resolution skills
Technical Knowledge:
- Deep comprehension of networking concepts, including: network design principles, data flow determination, routing, switching, VLANs, IP addressing, packet analysis, etc.
- Familiarity with network scanning/analysis procedures and toolsets for network readiness assessments
- Strong understanding and experience with network systems and technologies, including: Routing, Switching, WiFi, VPN/tunneling, load balancing, Firewalls, MPLS, DIA, P2P, SDWAN, WAN Optimization, PBR, VRF, VDCs, QoS, traffic-shaping, Datacenter technologies, Disaster Recovery, Scripting, MPLS, DNS, OOB, IP Address Management, and NTP
- Strong understanding of networking infrastructure, including: Nexus 9K / 7K / 5K series datacenter switches, catalyst series switches, Cisco routers, F5 load balancers, Zscaler ZIA & ZPA, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Cisco ISE, Aruba Clearpass, Opengear, etc.
- Experience with SDWAN technology, with VeloCloud SDWAN experience desired
- Experience with enterprise class network management/monitoring systems (Solarwinds, Airwave, Spectrum, NetScout, Science Logic, Ekahau, etc.)
- Excellent presentation and communication skills of technical and non-technical concepts
- Solid understanding of layered network and security, including: Ethernet, ARP, STP, VTP, VPC, MEC, LACP, PAGP, DOT1Q, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, GLBP, ICMP, ESP (IPSEC), IP, TCP, UDP, SSL, TLS, SSH, FTP, HTTP, DNS, and Telnet
- Familiarity with SaaS and cloud-based solutions and features in comparison to similar on-prem services
- Familiarity with infrastructure facilities, including: cabling standards, patching, floor plans, and power
- Ability to develop, analyze, understand, and articulate SOWs, BoMs, runbooks, domain summaries, and architecture diagrams, best standards and practices, HLDs, and LLDs,
- Capable of developing budgets, tracking costs, providing forecasts, and performing financial analysis on projects
