Neiman Marcus Group is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing team. A candidate with a strong entrepreneurial attitude, attention to detail, and a well-rounded professional background in accounting and financial reporting will make a quick impact in the role. The Senior Accountant will be primarily responsible for all external reporting, including quarterly and annual reports, earnings releases and other filings, internal analysis packages supporting reporting, and various other deliverables on a timely basis. Additionally, this position plays an active role in strategic project support, including data request preparation, technical accounting analysis and accounting/reporting process enhancement. The Senior Accountant is a highly visible role and regularly interacts with third parties, including auditors, actuaries, and other advisors, among others, as well as internal leadership across the organization.

Key Performance Elements

  • Prepare and ensure timely, accurate and GAAP-compliant quarterly and annual reports
  • Prepare internal reporting schedules and perform related analysis in support of critical reporting needs, including earnings calls, investor presentations, and other external communications as required
  • Partner with Investor Relations, Strategy, Communications, and other internal stakeholders to evaluate potential disclosures for accuracy, appropriateness, and consistency, among other criteria
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare timely financial statement analysis and communicate key themes to Finance leadership
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams to support strategic initiative execution, including system conversions/implementations, potential transactions/partnerships/investments, and organizational enhancements, among others
  • Perform technical accounting research, prepare documentation, and assist in adoption/implementation of accounting standards and related protocols across larger accounting organization
  • Coordinate audit and valuation processes with key third parties, including preparation of materials, project management, and issue escalation, as needed
  • Other special projects, ad hoc requests, and initiatives as required


Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required; Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 4 or more years of experience in a similar accounting or reporting role
  • Public accounting, or equivalent industry experience, preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and familiarity with accounting/reporting research tools
  • Detailed understanding of financial statement preparation and reporting requirements highly preferred
  • Excellent written and oral professional communication skills, keen attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage priorities to completion along established timelines
  • Ability to function independently and collaboratively as needed in a fast-paced, flexible work environment with geographically distributed team members
  • Proficiency with/mastery of Microsoft Office and other standard office suite software skills
  • Experience with enterprise accounting and reporting tools preferred; experience with Oracle EBS, EPM/SmartView/Essbase, and Workiva WDesk is a plus
  • Flexibility and adaptability, professional curiosity, willingness to collaborate with others and contribute as a member of a team
  • Ability to think critically, exercise professional judgement, and anticipate/proactively manage feedback, follow-up and next steps
