POSITION OBJECTIVE:
This position leads the development and sustainability of ESG, and Corporate Social Responsibility ("CSR") policies and procedures for all Chico's FAS operations.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works across all levels of Chico's FAS to collect data, assess, and report on our sustainability performance relative to our own goals and to the performance of our peers.
- Develops and coordinates strategy that advances Chico's FAS and its business unit's sustainability goals in line with its business activities. Helps the company differentiate itself amongst competitors.
- Oversees implementation of sustainability strategy and roadmap, monitors progress and identifies areas where Chico's FAS can improve environmental, social and governance impact
- Develops and maintains ESG dashboards, including targets and action plans; to be shared with functional leaders and the executive team.
- Continuously monitors performance against corporate sustainability goals and conducts regular benchmarking of Chico's FAS sustainability/ESG performance against peers, as well as against industry trends and best practices.
- Proactively identifies issues, risks, opportunities, and trends that may impact the company from an ESG, sustainability, and corporate responsibility perspective.
- Partners with different functions to increase overall sustainability/ESG awareness and enhance understanding and integration of ESG factors into their respective areas.
- Works closely with Chico's FAS, its business units, and functions to assist with collection of KPIs that will get reported to the ESG Steering Committee, the ESG Task Force and the ESG Committee of the Board.
- Convenes internal sustainability/ESG conversations to drive corporate strategy; produce recommendations on action, policy, or behavior changes; works with internal stakeholders to enact these recommendations, develops a cohesive narrative around them and coordinates internal and external ESG communications.
- Monitors the effectiveness of ESG policies, processes and procedures, and updates in accordance with changes in laws, regulations, and corporate directives.
- Prepares regular presentations on ESG Progress for the ESG Steering Committee and for the ESG Committee of the Board.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree required; in Environmental Science/Design/Engineering or Renewable Energy or related field encouraged
- 5+ years' experience, preferably with significant work in Environmental Sustainability, ESG, and/or Corporate Social Responsibility programs
- 3+ years' experience managing people
- Law Degree a plus
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative working relationships across multiple functional areas in the organization
- Ability to work with all levels of management and key stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong ESG knowledge, including sustainability, climate related risks and opportunities as well as ESG reporting and up to date with the development of global ESG standards
- Demonstrates strong understanding of the relevant ESG levers for the retail industry
- The ability to influence and catalyze change to improve ESG performance through the application of exceptional interpersonal, relationship-building, influencing and collaboration skills
- Outstanding communication with all levels of stakeholders including employees, management, Board, and regulators
- Advanced skills in writing and ESG report preparation
- Presentation skills to a range of audiences
- Strong quantitative skills and established analytical ability
- Experience and familiar with key ESG Standards, Proxy Advisor Ratings and Reporting Frameworks including UN Sustainable Development Goals, GRI, TCFD, SASB, etc.
