Sample Machinist

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate expert knowledge of garment construction and professional workmanship through sewing techniques
• Exhibit high attention to detail and craftsmanship, with clean stitching, consistent margins and SPI on all constructions
• Collaborate with designers and patternmakers to troubleshoot problems with the tech pack, pattern, and/or materials
• Make alterations to samples ranging from simple to complex fit modifications
• Operate industrial sewing machines, including lockstitch, cover-stitch and overlock
• Troubleshoot basic machinery issues and notifies their manager when repairs are necessary
• Analyze tech pack and patterns to determine the best construction method
• Maintain an orderly and compliant workstation

QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced experience working with a wide variety of fabrics and garment types, including leather, evening wear, and tailoring for men and women
• Strong experience working with luxury brands with an eye for detail and quality craftsmanship
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a professional demeanor
• Flexible schedule to occasionally work evening and weekend hours, based on the needs of the business
• Must be comfortable using other garment construction tools and machinery, including but not limited to fabric scissors, hand needles, industrial iron, etc
• Ability to re-cut pattern pieces due to fabric flaws or sewing errors
• Ability to cut complete garments is preferred, but not required
• Demonstration of sewing techniques and best practices to other team members
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Conversational proficiency is preferred, but not required
