Job Description:

The Textile/Surface Design department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions in Computer Aided Design for rotary and digital print design in the textile industry. Candidates have experience in textile print design for fashion and/or home. Ideal candidates have expertise using Photoshop and Illustrator to create original textile designs, strong skills in layouts, repeats, color reduction, ability to research and analyze color and concept trends, and have the ability to create product visualizations. Candidates must be able to communicate industry standard practices and language. Possible courses are TD114 Computer Aided Print Design, TD207 Adobe Illustrator for Textile/Surface Design, TD212 CAD and Design Fundamentals for Printed Textiles, TD224 Textile/Surface Design using Adobe Photoshop.

Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades in a timely manner. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog .

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and six (6) years of industry experience in the textile industry designing for print.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, textile design for rotary printing, textile design for digital printing a plus, print trend, and color.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience at the senior level such as senior designs or design director.
  • Traditional drawing and painting skills.

MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND WORKING REQUIREMENTS:

This position will be required to continuously read and comprehend, occasionally perform calculations, constantly verbally communicate, frequently analyze, and constantly write. The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time position, adjunct teaching position beginning in Spring 2023. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will keep this posting open to create a pool of candidates for potential future adjunct assignments. The department will contact applicants who qualifications fit our programmatic needs.

The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. The hourly rate and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience.
Starting Rate: $77.43 per hour with step increments per Salary Schedule 97, after one year of service and annually thereafter.
