Freelance Footwear designer

THE ROLE

We are looking for a uniquely creative shoe designer to join our design team on a freelance basis. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about creating beautiful feminine bold and unique designs within the sneaker and casual offering sector.  

As our freelance footwear designer you will be responsible for coming up with new and interesting ideas, you’ll enjoy researching womenswear footwear trends and will have a clear understanding of the Kat Maconie customer. You will be accountable for designing a casual shoe offering that sits alongside our main line at Kat Maconie and aesthetic and will collaborate closely with the Creative Director and Founder to share knowledge and ideas.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Design & Innovation:

Design and develop aspirational and appealing casual shoe offering for Kat Maconie Research the latest womans casual footwear trends Understand the customer and deliver ranges in line with their needs Have a strong knowledge of sneaker footwear technology Understand and bring sustainable solutions to the table Come up new ideas and concepts CAD all designs for review meetings Technical design packs for factories Come with existing contacts with casual shoe suppliers i.e sneakers and slides.  

Organisation & planning:

Ensure that all specs are accurate, up to date, and communicated clearly with suppliers Deliver to key dates Ensure all samples are briefed to factories, delivered and set up for review meetings in line with the timeframes set Be able to start immediately  

WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED?

Senior level experience in the ladies designer or mid market shoe sector with specialist experience in sneaker design and existing contacts with sneaker suppliers.
