Job Description:

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Work as part of a team of department technologists to assist faculty and students with safe and appropriate equipment and lab usage
  • Prepare and carry out demonstration of photographic equipment, best practices and workflow in a classroom setting
  • Perform digital technician duties for in class shoots and demonstrations, troubleshooting camera, hardware, software and workflow problems.
  • Facilitate the distribution and return of equipment to students and faculty through the department's inventory database, check for outstanding (unreturned) equipment on a daily basis contacting any delinquent students to ensure return.
  • Execute general maintenance and minor repair of all photographic equipment on an as-needed basis
  • Coordinate major repairs with several repair facilities
  • Work with Operations Manager and local sales reps in acquiring new equipment
  • Maintain equipment and student lists in Database and published equipment lists
  • Facilitate major student open studio access

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree required.
  • Two to four years of related professional photography experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in photography from an accredited post secondary institution of learning.
  • Six years of related professional experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of commercial analog and digital photographic tools and techniques in the areas of advertising,catalog, and editorial photographic image usage.
  • Experience with continuous lighting, portable and studio flash units
  • Working knowledge of digital camera formats: Medium Format, 35mm DSLR, and prosumer point and shoot cameras for both still and video approaches
  • Knowledge of analogue camera systems, including 35 mm, medium format and view cameras
  • Organizing and implementing equipment room procedures and tracking systems
  • Proper handling of film processing chemistry for black and white film, print processing and finishing, and a basic understanding of digital printmaking is required to offer advice to students when asked.
  • Must be proficient in utilizing word processing and spreadsheet software, Tethered capture with Lightroom and Capture One.
  • Work as part of a team of department technologists to assist faculty and students with safe and appropriate equipment, studio and lab usage.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, tact, resourcefulness and the ability to work with a diverse constituency.


Additional Information:

The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment.
Hiring Rate: $31.92 per hour with step increments per Salary Schedule 90, after one year of service and annually thereafter.

Days/Hours: 25 hours per week, in-person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.
