Job Description:

PrintFX meets the instructional and creative needs providing a variety of digital output services. The Tech C in
PrintFX/Fab Lab supports convenient and expedient delivery of high quality products to the FIT Community. The Tech C prepares files using various software applications for digital output to large format, fabric and specialty printers and to digital fabrication equipment such as laser and vinyl cutters, performs all post production procedures, equipment maintenance and provides technical support to students and faculty.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Operations
  • Provide face-face and remote support to faculty, students, and staff to assist in creating digital content to be printed/fabricated at PrintFX and FabLab.
  • Produce jobs on both 2D (e.g print, vinyl cutting) and 3D (e.g laser cutting, vacuum molding) output formats and perform all post-production procedures, as required.

Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration
  • Meet with faculty, students, and staff customers as needed to ensure jobs are submitted correctly.
  • Coordinate/collaborate with faculty to ensure needed supplies, equipment, and support are available for classroom assignments.

Environment and Maintenance
  • Create/design and maintain/host service desk related web pages, social media, etc. including creating/sourcing instructional media content.
  • Maintain unit's equipment and supplies on a regular basis.

Initiatives, Programs, and Projects
  • Provide technical support for ITDP events (e.g. MakerMinds, FRS Faculty workshops, etc.) and special projects as assigned.

Assistance
  • Assist in on-going maintenance life-cycle tasks of production equipment (large format plotters, printers, etc) in PrintFX and FabLab.
  • Assist in supervision of student monitors and student aides.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two (2) years of current related industry experience; or
  • Associate's degree with a minimum of four (4) years of current related experience required.
  • Experience working in a dual platform environment utilizing various software packages including: Adobe CC Suite, MS Office, 3D modeling software and color management software.
  • Experience working with Epson large format printers, large format copier, laser copiers, 3D printers, 3D scanners, vinyl cutters, book-binding systems, flatbed scanners and other peripherals

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work with a diverse constituency and interact with the public and provide excellent and extensive customer service support.
  • An ability to stay current with industry standards and software and equipment changes.

The position is on campus, primarily in an office environment or lab.

Additional Information:

The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment.
Starting Salary: $55,644 per year with step increments per Salary Schedule 91, after one year of service and annually thereafter.
