Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Inbound Transportation & Customs to work with Ralph Lauren's transportation providers to deliver consistent, reliable inbound transportation services. Through day-to-day tactical oversight, the manager will ensure RL's providers remain aligned with RL service expectations. Reporting to the Head of Transportation EMEA, the manager will lead a team of 6 people and directly 3rd party partners charged with air, ocean, truck, parcel transport modes & port drayage delivering from global factories to RL's EMEA Distribution Center in northern Italy to meet KPI standards. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on strategic execution delivering supply to meet demand forecasts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Serves as key point of contact with RL's inbound transportation providers
* Ensures transportation partners provide timely and accurate shipment status updates to RL systems
* Runs daily status reports to identify partners performance exceptions and addresses promptly
* Monitors providers' compliance to Ralph Lauren SOPs and addresses gaps or escalates to senior leadership team appropriately
* Works with RL Customs brokers supporting compliant import processes, including transit from ports of entry to the EMEA DC bonded warehouse
* Works closely with origin operations aligning on service and cost
* Works with RL Global Transportation Control Tower based in Hong Kong to ensure timely ex-factory departures and matching to mode and service options to meet expected in-DC dates
* Works with RL Global Transportation Control to coordinate on global bid & procurement processes, inputs & outcomes
* Provides partners with data quality feedback
* Coordinates shipment prioritization to support the business, working closely with the Planning and Distribution Center teams to achieve supply-demand optimization
* Assists Global & EMEA Heads of Transportation with special projects - eg. network optimization studies, service and rate analysis, lead-time improvement initiatives
* Oversees freight payment processes for EMEA Inbound Transport
* Develops and retains top talent, focusing on continuous improvement mentality
* Serves as the key link between internal and external partners fostering and growing relationships
* Be able to work across multiple geographic regions as needed
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
* Expert knowledge of customs & international transportation in multiple modes
* Ability to effectively communicate with individuals/groups from varied backgrounds and skill levels
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Effective presentation skills
* Advanced competency in Excel, and other desktop software
* Ability to work effectively in a team and/or project environment
* Ability to manage people and delegate to optimise team efficiency and performance
* Detail and multi-task oriented
* Maturity to make effective decisions and accept ownership
* Assertive, self-motivated, strong work ethic
* Able to work with little supervision/direction
* Surfaces issues and drives to resolution
* Strong time management skills
* 5-10 years working in international transportation & customs operations
* 3-5 years managing a team in international transportation & customs operations
* University Degree or 3rd level equivalent, preferably in Logistics
* Understanding of optimization techniques, routing tools and performance metrics
* Experience working with international shipping lines and/or air & ocean forwarders Attach your resume in English
