Job Description:

The Illustration and Interactive Media department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. Successful candidates will be industry-leading animators (2D and/or 3D) and game designers (2D and/or 3D) who can demonstrate forward-thinking creativity and exceptional ability as storytellers. We are looking for experts in the following areas: character design, storyboarding, 2D animation, 3D modeling, 3D animation, and game engines such as Unity and Unreal.

Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades in a timely manner. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog .

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in digital design.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of current, high level industry experience.
  • An online portfolio showcasing recent animation and/or game design projects for national or international clients/studios
  • An advanced understanding of current animation and game design concepts, principles, and workflow.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in teaching college-level course highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Award-winning creativity and story development
  • Ability to teach technical courses as well as design studios
  • Expertise in After Effects
  • Expertise in 3D modeling and animation software such as Maya
  • Expertise in game engines such as Unity and Unreal
  • Expertise in real-time rendering in 3D graphics and games
  • Expertise in augmented reality (AI), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies
  • Expertise in audio/sound design

MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND WORKING REQUIREMENTS:

This position will be required to continuously read and comprehend, occasionally perform calculations, constantly verbally communicate, frequently analyze, and constantly write. The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time position, adjunct teaching position beginning in Fall 2023. Successful candidates will be teaching part-time day and/or evening classes in the Animation, Interactive Media and Game Design BFA program and Creative Technology & Design subject area. The department will keep this posting open to create a pool of candidates for potential future adjunct assignments. The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. The hourly rate and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience.
Starting Rate: $77.43 per hour with step increments per Salary Schedule 97, after one year of service and annually thereafter.
