Zimmermann is searching for an enthusiastic Design Sourcing Assistant to join the team. In this role, you will assist in the sourcing and development of trims, linings and core colour-block fabrications to the requirements of the Creative Director and Senior members of the design team. 

You will have the opportunity to work with an internationally recognized fashion brand in a progressive and diverse business culture. This is an opportunity for someone who is driven and detail oriented.

As Design Sourcing Assistant, you responsibilities will include: 

  • Knowledge of fabrics, trims, print and embroidery techniques.
  • Knowledge and understanding garment construction and pattern making.
  • Research and investigate new suppliers for development 
  • Attend sourcing appointments and follow up on all appointments with summary email to team and suppliers.
  • Attend seasonal design meetings relating to fabrics and trims, collate all information discussed and summarise for the team following each meeting via email.
  • Co-ordinate the sending of trim artworks to suppliers for strike off, ensuring all developments are actioned accurately and efficiently.
  • Chase up and file all testing reports for all fabrics and trims, review and flag anything that is cause for concern at proto development stages and counter source alternatives.
  • Assist with set up and send purchase orders for trims, linings and core colour-block fabrications to suppliers and follow up on deliveries 
  • Create and manage a system for storing sourced trims – manage the archive and new seasonal sourcing.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Tertiary course in Fashion and/or Textiles and preferably have at least 1 year of work experience in a similar business.
  • Have a good knowledge of fabrics & trims and a keen interest in fashion.
  • Ability to combine both creative and technical skills.
  • Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Be exceptionally well organized and methodical.
  • Computer skilled, particularly in Microsoft Office, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Any experience of AP21 or a similar program.
