KNOW THE ROLE

We are looking for an Ambitious, Commercial and Experienced Designer Womenswear Buyer ready for a new challenge with Brown Thomas Arnotts Fashion Buying Department.

The Designer Buyer will be an inspiring market leader who will deliver on our commitment to Reinventing Retail and achieve an experience and offering that excites and enhances our customer’s lives.

As a curious individual and critical thinker, you will look beyond the obvious to identify opportunities and make sound decisions and strategic moves for the business. You will bring a leading edge to the Womenswear Designer category curating an offering of the most exclusive Irish and International brands for Brown Thomas Arnotts. This is an opportunity for an experienced Buyer who has a genuine passion for luxury designer brands to join a talented and inspiring Buying team.  

  • Work with the Fashion Buying Director to develop and implement a solid commercial and creative strategy for the area
  • Responsible for buying decisions based on a sound commercial framework to drive sales and profit
  • To be aware of trends in public opinion, taste and understand their implications for the business. Applying your knowledge of Designer Brands, you will lead the sourcing of our products – keeping us one-step ahead of our competitors
  • Analyse sales for the business and identify areas of improvements. Use your experience to manage and build commercial and business relationships with our suppliers and partners, monitor and evaluate existing suppliers
  • Negotiate the best possible terms with suppliers i.e. margin, trade discounts, markdown support
  • Ensure all vendor terms are managed ensuring monthly gross profit reports are checked, cost to sell and payroll terms are all being actioned correctly
  • Responsible for range planning, working closely with the Fashion Buying Director and Buying Manager. To be accountable for the movement of stock from vendor to supply change and store
  • Have full oversight on all stock related data and insights. Clearly define metrics such as Season forecasting, OTB, Stock levels, Stock clearance, RTV, Breakstocks and season forecasting across all brands
  • To communicate and consult with the Buying Manager and Head of Merchandising on merchandise matters
  • Manage existing brands through analysis of performance, taking action when necessary and making decisions to keep or discontinue within the business
  • To engage regularly with the Head of Digital and General Managers to ensure that merchandise is allocated to the correct space on and offline to achieve maximum return per square foot and that it is well presented
  • Engage in weekly flagship floor walks and planned regional store visits to exchange information, receive feedback and take appropriate action based on performance
  • Partner with Marketing and Creative leaders to ensure the creative commitment is delivered and impact realised
  • To plan merchandise promotions, advertising in consultation with Marketing, Buying and General Managers
  • To ensure your supporting team follow correct ordering procedure and complete any administrative duties associated with their role
  • Be aware and up to date with Group terms to ensure we are on par or above in relation to our market exclusivity
  • Attend regular meetings with the buying team and where required business meetings including weekly trading updates
  • This site centric role requires 5 days a week onsite operating within the buying office and across all Brown Thomas Arnotts stores.

  • A forward thinker, you will be ahead of seasonal trends and have the ability to curate the very best Designer collections for the Brown Thomas Arnotts customer
  • Strong leadership skills and an ability to inspire Buying teams
  • Commercially focused, experience with budgets and a proven ability to achieve commercial targets
