Manager, Merchandise Accounting

Your Role

As the Merchandise Accounting Manager, you'll be an important part of the Accounting Department. You will report to the Director of Accounting and lead a Merchandise Accounting team to ensure our accounting practices for merchandise inventory and gross margin meet all applicable accounting standards and regulations. You will connect with different areas of the business, providing you an opportunity to develop additional skills within our retail environment. You'll also influence and improve system implementation and enhancements. You and the team will be working remotely.

What You'll Do

• Work with the Merchandise Accounting team to provide an in-depth, comprehensive understanding of our financial systems and complete monthly close and reporting cycle
  
• Lead Merchandise Accounting reports, including preparation and distribution, to managers, leaders, and internal/external auditors.
  
• Provide analysis and commentary on important performance measures related to Inventory and Gross Margin
  
• Be the financial team's project manager for strategic plans
  

• Evaluate current accounting processes and implement changes to support best practices
  
• Oversee audit of all Inventory and Gross Margin related items and ensure internal and external controls are in place, including SOX controls
  
• Lead a team of 3-4, providing training, coaching, development, and feedback, reflective of our NMG Way, Values, and Culture of Belonging
  

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
  
• 5+ years' experience of public accounting experience with Retail/Inventory experience
  
• Experience with financial system integrations and transaction flow
  
• People development and management experience
  
• Technical skills, including Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Oracle ERP, Hyperion Essbase
