Position Overview
The Assistant Designer will support the RRL Wovens Shirt design team from initial concept approval through production. This role will have a strong focus on design and product development across the woven shirt category. A positive attitude and excitement for the brand are needed. The candidate will have to take initiative, embrace change, adapt to learning new concepts and procedures. Finally, candidate needs to be extremely detail oriented with strong technical skills, understanding of garment construction, and knowledge of fabrics / color theory.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

* Assist with preparation for all Design Meetings, Board Reviews, Hand Offs, Line Reviews & Showroom Openings.
* Responsible for all sketch color ups and stat creation to clearly illustrate the design team's vision each season.
* Responsible for all technical flat sketching and handoffs to the Tech team in partnership with the Senior Design Director.
* Work with Senior Design Director to select design components and trims each season to execute clear handoffs to the PMT teams.
* Attend all fittings and take notes for follow-up (including fit prep).
* Work cross functionally with PMT, Merchandising, and Tech teams to communicate updated information throughout the development process.
* Work with Woven Shirt design team to create inspirational design boards and sketches to convey design concepts through vintage protos, tear sheets, fabric swatches, etc
* Manage vintage and design library.
* Assist designers in seasonal research of current market trends & runway shows in fabric, silhouette, embroidery, color, pattern, trim, wash, and finishing techniques.
* Organize all electronic and physical design materials.
* Create seasonal product knowledge documents to share with Merchandising and External Partners
* Work with Fabric / PMT teams on the development of new seasonal fabrics and wash development
* Organize and manage trim libraries for easy access / reference.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge
· Bachelor's Degree in Design preferred · Proficient in flat sketching · Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, and Web PLM · Working knowledge of pattern making and garment construction. · General understanding of basic fabric constructions · Strong design, color, and aesthetic sensibility · Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously in order to help meet team deadlines · Strong communication and follow-up skills: verbal & handwritten · Team player with strong interpersonal skills #LI-ce1
