JOB PURPOSE

Working as part of the Group Financial Reporting team, covering a range of activities, including month end consolidation and reporting responsibilities, year-end and interim statutory group reporting responsibilities, store impairment review and other ad hoc project work as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Consolidation process (monthly)

• Working closely with regional finance teams, finance shared services, tax and other business partners to obtain relevant information for preparation of month end close consolidation journals
• Responsibility for calculating and posting the centrally controlled accounting and consolidation adjustments on a monthly basis
• Initial review of consolidated management accounts to ensure centrally controlled adjustments are accurately reflected
• Preparation of monthly analysis and reporting schedules to support review of month end journals and consolidated management accounts
• Ad hoc monthly reporting as required
• Month end FX rates reporting (on a rota basis)

Statutory Reporting (bi-annual basis)

• Review of regional interim and year-end submissions within BPC system to ensure they are aligned with group guidance
• Review and analysis of specific group consolidated balance sheet accounts
• Preparation of specific note disclosures for the group consolidated statutory accounts
• Performing consistency and accuracy checks on draft group consolidated statutory accounts
• Liaising with external auditors where necessary

Forecasting and budgeting (quarterly basis)

• Responsibility for preparation of centrally controlled accounting and consolidation adjustments for forecast and budget periods, for submission in to the Group FP&A team
• Preparation and analysis of reporting schedules for inclusion into the forecast / budget reporting pack
• Liaising with the Group FP&A team as required to provide additional ad hoc scenario reporting

Store impairment review (bi-annual basis)

• Drafting of impairment testing plan and presentation of this to internal stakeholders and external auditors
• Preparation of store impairment model including all inputs required to calculate the value-in-use of stores
• Working closely with the Commercial Finance teams in each region to obtain detailed overview of store performance
• Coordination with Tax, Treasury and other relevant teams to prepare group WACC rates
• Responsibility for preparing and posting the associated impairment journal entries
• Preparation of impairment disclosures in the group consolidated statutory accounts
• Preparation of schedules to support Audit Committee papers as required

Ad hoc tasks

• Weekly confirmation of Treasury deals (on a rota basis)
• Liaising with Group FP&A team to provide ad-hoc analysis as required
• Involvement in project work as required, including research and preparation of technical accounting papers; identifying/implementing improvements in reporting processes; general business support

PERSONAL PROFILE

• Qualified accountant - ACA or equivalent
• Proven IFRS experience
• Listed PLC international Group experience
• Experience with group consolidation accounting and systems (BPC & SAP preferred but not necessary)
• Retail industry experience / exposure preferred but not essential
